The Department of Theatre at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., accredited by NAST (National Association of Schools of Theatre), invites applications for a full-time position of Assistant Professor of Theatre (Dance). This is a 9-month, tenure track appointment to begin August 2022. The Department offers B.F.A. degrees (audition only) in Musical Theatre, Acting, Physical Theatre, and Design and Production, as well as a B.A. degree in Theatre. Located in Conway, South Carolina, just 9 miles from Myrtle Beach, this highly collaborative and rigorous department maintains an ambitious production season, in addition to new works and staged readings in our Maymester series to connect students with working professionals. Department faculty maintain professional careers in their respective disciplines and assist students in seeking summer employment. Senior B.F.A. We seek an ambitious, energetic, and quality driven teacher-scholar to join one of the nation's top undergraduate Theatre programs, serving over 170 majors. This faculty member will teach a variety of dance courses including teaching all levels of ballet, jazz, tap, and musical theatre dance styles. Serving as choreographer for one to three musicals per year, recruitment undertakings for the B.F.A. Musical Theatre program, possible contribution to the senior New York Showcase and possible contribution as a director in the mainstage season. Courses may include Fundamentals of Dance, Ballet I, Ballet II, Jazz I, Jazz II, Tap I, Tap II, Musical Theatre Dance Styles I, Dance Company, and two levels of Musical Theatre Scene Study along with a potential of a required course in the university core curriculum. The preferred candidate would collaborate on the creation of curriculum for a new dance minor within the Department of Theatre.

Required qualifications: M.F.A. or commensurate professional experience in the field. Exceptional teaching ability and ability to provide choreography for a variety of productions in a departmental season of musicals. Demonstrated experience as an instructor at the university level is required. Candidates should have a strong professional resume and solid contacts within the professional theatre, including proven histories with national and regional theatres, and a current connection to theatres and theatre creatives working in the industry. In addition to having demonstrated the highest standards of professional activity, the preferred candidate will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, student learning, and inclusive pedagogy.
