The
University Dining Services (UMD)
invites applications for a
Culinary Professional I
to oversee many tasks including:
Training and supervising student dish room staff.
Providing accurate and skillful dish room and kitchen cleaning.
Providing outstanding guest service.
Providing quantity food preparation and service when required.
Receiving deliveries from vendors.
Cleaning and sanitizing equipment.
Assisting with inventories.
Clearly and openly communicating with all UMD staff.
Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors and managers.
Contributing to the success of UMD as an active member of the UMD Team.
Embracing the philosophies of the UMD Performance Planning Program.
This position requires incumbent to develop a working knowledge of outstanding guest services skills, excellent communication skills as well as a working knowledge of the ServSafe program. This individual will also develop and gain experience in the food service industry.
Required Skills
Ability to communicate and work with a variety of clients.

Working knowledge and experience in food service.
Ability to remain productive in a fast-paced environment.
Expert knowledge in operating a commercial dish machine.
Expert knowledge of cleaners and sanitizing solutions.
Expert knowledge of food safety practices and procedures.
Experience with training and supervisory practices and procedures.
Knowledge and experience using numerous pieces of standard food service equipment.
ServSafe certified or ability to become certified within one year of employment.
Ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times.
Ability to work within a very diverse work force.
Ability to effectively work independently and as a team member.
Ability to lift materials from floor level to table height, which requires mobility and some physical demands.
Ability to work in an environment with noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
Minimum Required Experience
High School diploma and one (1) year industrial dishwashing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a valid Montana driver’s license or be able to obtain one at the time of employment.
ServSafe certified, or ability to become certified within one year of employment.
