The Alumni and Development Coordinator position exists to coordinate relations in the area of alumni, development and communications between Seton Hall Law School alumni and the Alumni & Development office, by providing immediate diversified administrative and clerical support to the Director of Development & Development Operations and the Director of Alumni Relations, as well as being the first responder to constituent inquiries.
The position supports development operations, alumni relations, social media and marketing initiatives in conjunction with serving as a liaison between the Alumni & Development office, Alumni Council, Board of Visitors, donors, law alumni community and other constituents. The position also provides substantial assistance in the coordination of giving, events, programming and communication with all donors & constituents -- through the use of technology via alumni website, online alumni directory & community (Seton Hall Law Connect- which encompasses biographical information, event registrations, giving and payments, class news and notes and broadcast emails), email and social media, aimed at increasing Seton Hall Law School's donor/alumni engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Development Operations: Coordinates and prioritizes day-to-day gift processing activities from annual and major level donors (handling gifts ranging from $1.00 - $500,000); accurately enters daily receipt of law school gifts (including checks, cash, credit cards, stock, gifts-in-kind); completes gift transmittal forms for daily entries; generates gift reports; ensures donations received are recorded in Raiser's Edge; communicates with University Advancement Operations to resolve technical problems or adjustments that must be made in Raisers' Edge; creates and maintains biographical records for donors and prospects as needed; researches and maintains biographical information; assists in pledge reminder mailings, fall and spring solicitations/appeals, fall/spring Phonathon sessions; proofreads Honor Roll of Giving in Alumni Magazine.
2. Alumni Relations and Event Management: Primary point of contact for the law school alumni base; oversees event registration for several major events including but not limited to: Annual Dinner Dance, Class Reunions, Annual Golf Outing and Red Mass; manages and track event logistics (including RSVPs and attendee lists); accounts for and collects event payments (cash, check and credit cards) at events; assists in reconciliation of events and expenses; handles inter-departmental transfer requisitions and invoices; attends alumni events and provides day-of support; coordinates large mailings; independently responds to mail, phone or email inquiries for assistance or information related to sponsorships/payments, ticket purchases and refunds while providing excellent constituent/donor relations (both external and internal).
3. Communications and Marketing: Distributes monthly e-newsletter to entire law school community (alumni, donors and friends); assists in advertising and publicity of events, creation of programs and invitations for events including but not limited to Class Reunions, Red Mass, Annual Dinner Dance and Networking Receptions; provides analytics for all e-communications; maintains online giving and event registration forms; broadcasts emails for law school and student organizations; handles other internet based media; conducts website management of Seton Hall Law Connect (online alumni community); contributes to and edits the Alumni and Development webpages for law school; uploads event photos onto Seton Hall Law School's Alumni Flickr website; assists in maintaining law school's social networking media presence.
4. Prospect Research and Administrative Support: Provides direct administrative support to the Director of Development & Development Operations as well as the Director of Alumni Relations and Programming and other office staff ; researches prospects; prepares prospect briefings; manages various projects; schedules, manages and coordinates visits and meetings, with prospects, donors, volunteers and University staff; coordinates directors' calendars; manage sensitive information with the highest level of discretion and confidentiality; taking minutes of Alumni Council and Red Mass Committee meetings; drafts, proofreads, types, distributes and files correspondence and communications.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; Incumbent will have a minimum of one to three years’ experience in fundraising and event planning.
Desired Qualifications:
Associate’s degree, or vocational or technical school degree – Field of study: English, Communication Studies, Public Relations or related field of study

Incumbent will have to deal with weather elements due to varied locations of events. Some events are held outside or hosted off-site from Law School premises (i.e. graduation, golf outing and receptions).
