Responsible for providing leadership, managing ongoing nursing
operations, coordinating effective patient throughput and bed utilization and
serving as resource to all hospital managers for assigned shift. Functions as an onsite liaison and resource
person for nursing, medical, administrative, and management staff. Communicates and collaborates with all
hospital departments and outside agencies in problem resolution to promote
effective and efficient hospital operations.
Ensures care provided is based on defined standards of patient care and accepted nursing practice.Essential Functions-Coordinates
staffing to ensure adequate daily staffing in adherence to productivity
standards
-Supports
the Access Center by rounding frequently to ensuring TeleTracking is up-to-date
and all available beds are reported.
-Maintains
authority to direct employees regarding patient flow prioritization
-Facilitates
communication with all providers regarding patient throughput
-Serves
as liaison to ancillary departments to promote timely patient diagnostic
turnaround
-Assists
Access Center with prioritization of patient placement
-Collaborates
with Nurse Managers to facilitate timely discharges
-Implements
diversion avoidance and capacity alert plans, as indicated per facility policy
-Procures
supplies and equipment needed for patient care
-Attends
all codes (Blue, Gray, Stroke etc.) and
MET calls and provides direction as needed per facility policy
-Handles
confidential issues and information and escalates appropriately to the
Administrator on call
-Assists
with clinical tasks as requested
-Coordinates
and assists clinical staff in implementing patient death protocols according to
policy/procedure and facility processes
-Assures
safe working conditions are maintained in the patient care areas. Promotes patient safety utilizing the
national patient safety goals as a guideline
-May
serve as incident command during disasters, as needed
-Supports
the management team and instills accountability in the staff
-Assists
Nursing Directors with organizing and implementing new programs as requested
-Assists
in policy and procedure development and review
-Assists
with Service Recovery efforts when following up on patient/family complaints
-Makes
decisions quickly and accurately
-Compiles
a shift report and keeps required logs and documentation per facility
guidelines
-Assists with performance evaluations
and competency assessments, practice validations, as requested
-Carries
out other duties as assigned

Graduate
of an approved accredited school of nursing
Current
RN license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
BSN
Required
BLS
Required
Experience (required
and preferred):
BSN
and 2 years leadership experience required
