ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.'s Office of Professional & Continuing Education (OPCE) serves the university in support of programs to engage non-traditional students. We provide dedicated resources through a continuum of learning opportunities in non-academic credit programs in partnership with UC academic units and industry professionals across a wide range of disciplines. OPCE courses include professional training to earn industry certificates for career advancement and continuing education credits for professionals.
OPCE administers a grant-based program for adult learners called Cincinnati Talent Acceleration Program (CTAP). The program is a partnership with the Univerity of Cincinnati, Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency, and Cincinnati Innovation District. CTAP learners benefit from career education and in-demand workforce training, Microsoft Office Suite, and CompTIA certification, plus basic math, reading, and writing skills assistance.
JOB OVERVIEW
On a part-time, limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty is responsible for providing classroom instruction to adults studying to improve academic skills before entering a career program or college and for personal or employment reasons. The Instructor provides quality teaching and learning, diagnostics, assessment, advises students, and completes other assignments that enable the department to achieve its purpose and advance the mission of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position is grant-funded and contingent upon the continuation of external funding. This position may be eliminated or reduced with or without notice if funding should cease or be reduced.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*On a part-time basis, provide quality teaching in assigned courses to meet objectives and student learning needs corresponding to the level and content of each course and Ohio's Aspire and College and Career Readiness Standards. *Use one-on-one, group, lecture, and technology methods to instruct adults functioning at different ability levels in various subjects, all in the same room. *Attend ASPIRE staff meetings and complete required ASPIRE professional development within designated timeframes. *Communicate effectively, facilitate the learning process by utilizing appropriate methods, and regularly prepare and update assigned lesson plans. *Demonstrate knowledge of instructional methods, developmental education, student success strategies, curriculum development principles, diverse learning styles, and best practices in helping students succeed. *Proficient with technology and willing to learn and apply distance education techniques. *Work collaboratively with all student support service areas throughout the college and the community. *Establish rapport with students and maintain a friendly, non-threatening classroom atmosphere. *Show respect for cultural and ethnic differences. *Conduct and assist with student orientation and follow-up. Direct and assist students in teaching areas. *Participate effectively as a team member, demonstrating group problem solving/decision-making ability with good communication skills and relating well with co-workers, students, and community members. *Maintain confidentiality and privacy per the University, FERPA, student records, and other protected documentation. *Review, and where necessary, respond promptly to all University-related communications. *Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
*Bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university in Education or related field required. Academic degree in an appropriate discipline. *Willingness to work an irregular schedule as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
*Experience teaching and tutoring adults. *Excellent written and oral communication skills to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject. *Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from various culturally diverse backgrounds.
