The Area Coordinator (AC) is a twelve-month, live-in professional position in Housing and Residence Life who reports directly to the Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life. The AC will supervise (3) twelve-month full-time Residence Hall Coordinators and support the supervision of 25-30 para-professional (student) staff members.
Responsibilities also include oversight of approximately 1400 resident students in multiple residence hall facilities, residence hall facility management, and oversight of all administrative processes and procedures. Additionally, the Area Coordinator will work with the Central Staff on various departmental wide initiatives including but not limited to, RA training and development, staff recruitment and selection, and housing operations.
The AC also participates in the on-call duty rotation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Area Coordinator will supervise a team of three Residence Hall Coordinators in their day to day duties of managing 25-30 Resident Assistants. Holds weekly staff and one-on-one meetings with Residence Hall Coordinators. Manages performance and development.
Leads professional and student staff in theme development and programming; assisting students with personal, academic, spiritual, and social skill development outside of the classroom with emphasis on academic excellence and service.
Assists Resident Coordinators with enforcement of the University Student Code of Conduct. Utilize student conduct software. Serve as a hearing officer in the student conduct process.
Serve on committees as requested, assess success of community and departmental processes, track budget.
Participate in on-call duty. Respond to various student concerns and conduct or crisis incidents.
Maintain and ensure accuracy in housing occupancy & billing reports. Manage follow-up of work orders, communicate with Facilities and third-party vendors regarding needs in residence halls.
Required Qualifications:
• Masters's Degree
• 1-3 years Residence Hall work experience.
