Recognised globally in terms of publications, impact and influence - and training the greatest number of students in this field - the city’s three world-leading scientific institutions: the University of Plymouth, the Marine Biological Association and Plymouth Marine Laboratory have collectively formed Marine Research Plymouth, a partnership to harness the full scientific and technological capabilities of Britain’s ‘Ocean City’. Marine Research Plymouth seeks to harness all of this and ensure Plymouth is the go-to destination in the UK, and one of the leading centres globally, for marine-related research and innovation. It will ensure Plymouth is even better placed to attract further funding and investment for initiatives that can advance understanding, testing and development of technologies for the rapidly growing global ocean economy You could be part of this unique opportunity. As Director, you will help to enable achievements and innovations to go further and will cement Plymouth and the South-West as the leading UK marine research and innovation location. You will be responsible for the connections between policy makers, industry, investors, and the partnership to drive Plymouth forward. You will be able to effectively utilise strong national and international government and business relationships to enable MRP to achieve research and innovation strategic goals. You will be an experienced negotiator and will have proven collaboration skills. Experience in leading large organisations/partnerships is a must, along with strategic vision and drive. We are open to discussion of a flexible working arrangement. The post would suit a candidate with a portfolio career. While we initially envisage a 50% time appointment this could be adjusted to meet the needs of the right candidate. We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme on the University of Plymouth’s senior manager scale.
