Biology Lecturer
The Department of Biology at San Francisco State University invites applications for part-time lecturer positions (non-tenure track) in Biology for the Academic Year 2022/2023. We are especially interested in qualified candidates with a demonstrated commitment -- through their teaching -- to the diversity and excellence of our department.
The Department of Biology is home to over 1600 undergraduates, 150 master's students, and 40 tenure/tenure-track faculty. The department is proud of its reputation in actively engaging students from diverse backgrounds in scientific discovery. Applicants are required to upload the following documents:
A cover letter expressing interest in the classes you would like to teach.
An inclusion statement indicating how you plan to actively engage students from diverse backgrounds in your classroom (no more than 1 page)
A current Curriculum Vitae (including details of current and previous teaching experience: date of teaching, institution, class-size)
The names, addresses, phone-numbers and emails of two professional references who are in a position to comment on the applicant's current or previous teaching experience.
Required Qualifications:
Master's or PhD (or advanced standing in a PhD program) in area of teaching interest
Record of working and communicating effectively with colleagues and students
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in teaching and mentoring of PEERs (Persons Excluded because of their Ethnicity or Race) students in STEM
Demonstrated record of how inclusion, diversity, and social justice education has been or will be incorporated into courses
Candidates should demonstrate a record of contributing to safe, supportive and collaborative work environment
