Profile

Description:
Our Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) provision is expanding as Health Care Professionals from diverse backgrounds are proving increasingly critical to the provision of high-level care in the NHS. Having recently achieved accreditation with HEE, and as current holders of RCN accreditation, we are expanding our team to meet this need. Based in the Faculty of Health, theSchool of Nursing and Midwiferyprogrammes in the fields of adult, child and mental health nursing and in midwifery have been designed with our students’ career and the future needs of the workforce in mind. The School works in partnership with local NHS trusts to drive forward clinical research and support students in their learning to become the best nurses and midwives they can be. State-of-the-art facilities and equipment help students maximise their potential and develop their core skills, preparing them to embark on exciting and rewarding careers. The School offers further support for student career and professional development in the areas of healthcare, surgical care practice, emergency care and general practice nursing. An interdisciplinary approach to research coverssustainability, the evolution of services, use of new genetic knowledge and technologies, the ageing population, use of internet and mobile technologies, changes in clinical education, contemporary nursing, and how knowledge is translated into practice and policy. The University of Plymouth has a strong interdisciplinary research ethos which is supported by our three strategic Research Institutes: the Marine Institute, the Sustainable Earth Institute, and the Plymouth Institute of Health and Care Research. As a member of our academic community, you’ll be expected to contribute to our recognised research strengths. Working holistically across the University, you will be challenged to innovate, collaborate and deliver impactful research contributions as part of a systems thinking approach to addressing today’s global challenges. We are looking to recruit suitably qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioners to support students, ACP ePortfolio applicants and further develop and enhance our programmes, particularly in clinical skills and clinical decision making. We offer an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and a specialty ACP in Ophthalmology, both feature an apprenticeship and standard route, and the clinical aspects of the programme are also taught to students on a variety of other programmes. In addition to ACP we also offer an increasing range of First Contact Practitioner Postgraduate Certificates. You would be committed to providing students with innovative and high-quality learning experiences. We are a diverse team and work very closely with each other and within the Faculty to ensure we maintain quality in the classroom and enthusiasm and passion for the student experience. As a training role you will be inducted and closely mentored through familiarity with the course, the taught material, and its delivery. We are looking for a clinician with advanced practice skills as well as a passion for teaching and facilitating the professional development of others. We encourage applications from highly motivated individuals, who hold current registration with either the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). You will have experience in advanced clinical practice and higher education. A teaching qualification is desirable but the role is developmental and achieving experience and qualification in teaching practice will be supported within the role. With its vision to be the provider of choice of first-class contemporary education, informed by research and innovation, the University of Plymouth’s Faculty of Health has developed long-standing and innovative engagement across clinical partners. The University’s Clinical Schools embed research focussed clinical-academics in local NHS Trusts to drive forward co-produced clinical research, promote inter-professional working, embed evidence-based learning in practice and offer a framework for clinical academic careers. This role is for part-time candidates and is fixed term for 18 months due to funding. Maintaining clinical practice validates clinical teaching and, hence, 0.2 WTE roles are available. This role will require an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check plus Adult and Children Barred List checks.
