General Description of Position:
Provide quality and engaging instruction in all delivery methods and formats within specific academic programs; provide timely and meaningful feedback to students regarding the mastery of course and program learning outcomes; engage students outside of class in support of the curriculum and co-curriculum; provide institutional support and community service; participate meaningfully in student retention and completion initiatives; support the College’s mission and strategic plan initiatives; conform to regional expectations of faculty performance and engagement.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Demonstrate a strong customer service and/or student advocacy through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, strong problem-solving and desire to identify and support student success.
Engage in behaviors that create an inclusive environment in which all people are valued and supported.
Go beyond the easiest or surface answer for a student, or an internal or external customer, and get to the root cause of the problem, question or issue to solve it as quickly and professionally as possible.
INSTRUCTION
Deliver assigned classes using pedagogy and technology that best support student learning, and in accordance with college loading policy, course objectives and program learning outcomes.
Use Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas) to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment and communication.
Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and other course materials.
Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation as required. Maintain a safe, quality classroom/ lab, including equipment, supplies, inventory and maintenance.
Ability to teach at any of the campuses within the region, Lawrence, Plainfield, Downtown
RETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESS
Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.
Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with regional expectations and the faculty loading policy in the Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM 7.2).
Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach to students by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Participate in professional development activities that may include scheduled training, time spent onsite in related business and industries, and self-study to advance instructional and technical skills as well as current knowledge within the field of study.
Participate in scholarly activities related to the discipline/focus, in fulfillment of annual performance plans, and as required for certification and licensure.
Stay current in contemporary pedagogy, digital technology, and other technology related to teaching that best support student learning.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Participate in community service activities on behalf of the college to advance the college’s relationships within its service area as appropriate for department/division.
Participate in student recognition ceremonies.
INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT
Provide institutional support as expected by college administration that may include curriculum development, accreditation efforts, committee and task force assignments, attendance at commencement or other activities that are college-wide or specific to the division/department of the faculty member.
ADVISING
Provide student advising support as expected by college administration that may include assistance during pre-and regular registration periods and during posted office hours.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
Support Program Chair in program management activities.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Assist in the recruitment of students.
Develop community/industry contacts.
Mentor a team of adjunct faculty

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned master’s degree or higher degree in mathematics from a regionally accredited institution; or an earned master’s or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in any field with 18 graduate semester credit hours in mathematics or mathematics-related courses.
Experience teaching both pre-college and college-level mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years experience teaching in a higher education setting
