Conduct molecular biology and genetics research in Michael Blouin’s laboratory in the Department of Integrative Biology at OSU. Blouin’s lab studies the genetics of resistance by snails to infection by parasites, and how salmon adapt to hatcheries. The incumbent will work mainly on the snail genetics project, but help out as needed with the salmon work.
Minimum/Required Qualifications
BA or BS in biology or other relevant field.
Experience with basic molecular biology techniques, including making solutions, DNA and RNA extractions, and PCR.
At least three years of experience working with molecular biology techniques, including at least one year working with RNA.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Experienced with qRT-PCR.
Experience working with proteins (e.g. western blotting, protein purifications).
Background in genetics, immunology or disease biology.
Salary
is commensurate with education, training, and experience.
