The Variable Incentive Program is a nursing pool developed by CHI Health & Avantas, specifically for flexible nurses who desire the experience of providing high quality care to patients across multiple nursing departments. These incentivized shifts reflect the needs not covered by Core Staff and the Scheduled Resource Team. How will my rate of pay for the VIP be determined? Your base rate, shift, weekend and holiday differentials are identical to full and part-time employees. Merit increases are given in an identical manner as for all core staff members. Because VIP is designed to value experience and flexibility the Commitment and Incentive pay is as follows: • Commitment: 24 hours every 2 pay periods (4 weeks)• Pay Incentive is paid for all scheduled direct patient care hours worked, up to 60 hours per week. o Tech Incentives: $1-5 per hour.o LPN Incentives: $1-20 per hour.o RN Incentives: $1-20 per hour • Required to work in all Inpatient Medical Surgical, Step Down, Critical Care, on-site Behavioral and at a minimum on-site Ante/Post-Partum in Women’s Services.
VIP is for you, if you wish to:• Be rewarded for your experience and flexibility by working in multiple nursing departments within a hospital.• Have flexibility in building your own schedule. May select shifts from 6 hours to 30 days in advance. Day, Evenings, Nights and Weekends available, along with 4, 8 and 12 hour shifts. • Maximize your income.

Job Summary / Essential Duties:• Responds to patient calls, anticipates patient needs, and assures patient safety and comfort through regular rounds, environmental maintenance and other appropriate safety measures.• Records vital signs and intake and output when requested into the patient record and/or computer. Reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patients and any unusual incidents/problems.• Performs nursing procedures which do not require the skill/knowledge or judgement of a licensed professional and which may be safely delegated in accordance with nursing policies and procedures. • Prepares and assists patients with meals. Feeds patients as directed. Distributes nourishments and drinking water.• Assures patient privacy while providing personal and routine care.• Establishes and maintains professional interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel while assuring confidentiality of patient information.• Offers to assist co-workers and all team members to complete work assignments.• Participates in patient care conferences and contributes to planning patient care.','!*!QUALIFICATIONS:Required: Must be at least 16 years of age. Must have successfully completed the 75-hour state approved course for Nursing Assistant if hired into the Nursing Assistant position after April 30, 1998. Nurse Assistants must be on the Nurse Aide Registry of the State in which they work if hired into the Nursing Assistant position after April 30, 1998. BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. Experience:Preferred: Six months experience in an acute care hospital or skilled care facility in the acute care area.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:Ability to organize and prioritize work.
