Position Summary
Assistant Tech Director for Reynolds Performance Hall on the University of Central Arkansas campus. Position assists Technical Director with all events in theater including but not restricted to rentals, college events and professional performing arts series events.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Aides in the determination and performance of audio and/or lighting needs including set up, determining rental needs, and engineering the performances
Assists the touring Audio Engineers and/or Lighting Directors/Designers with set-up, actual performance, and load out
Confers with Technical Director on technical rider portion of contract to determine lighting, sound, and stage requirements, equipment needed and feasibility of plan with equipment available.
Aides in set up and/or strike of stage needs such as fly system, lighting plots and acoustical shell.
Assist in the training and supervision of student workers in the following areas: lighting, audio, fly system, acoustical shell set up, and standard stage techniques.
Aides coordination of stage crew before, during, and after each performance.
Maintains inventory of technical equipment and supplies necessary to perform functions inherent with events.
Serves as acting Technical Director in absence of Technical Director.
Other duties as assigned by Technical Director and/or Executive Director of Public Appearances.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to operate digital sound and lighting consoles.
Knowledge of signal flow, proper cable runs placement, and troubleshooting any audio and/or lighting problems.
Ability to extract all key necessities when reviewing technical riders.
Understanding of stage/light plots and line set schedules provided with technical riders.
Operates a variety of production equipment including lighting, audio, and video controls, an
LED
wall, projectors, amplifiers, speakers, etc.
Making contact with incoming productions, via email or phone, to ensure clarity in all needs of production.
Experience working with basic hand tools.
Comfortable with heights.
Ability to lead stage crew with clear directions when needed.
Ability to maintain composure in a fast paced, high stress environment.
Comfortable working long hours and being on your feet for long periods of time when necessary.

Required Education and/or Experience
The formal education equivalent of a bachelors degree with a major in sociology, public administration, or related field; plus two years of experience in program administration or related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.

Preferred Education and/or Experience
Bachelors Degree in appropriate field or equivalent experience in technical stage production. Demonstrated skills in stage management principles and practices. Knowledge and experience in stage production methods and techniques. Experience in hiring and training student workers in specific job skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
