Position Summary:
Plans and implements activities that promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth of students. Responsible for the care, learning, developmental activities, specialized programs and redirection of students. Maintains classroom records, cleanliness, and orderliness.
Summary of Essential Position Functions:
· Maintains accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on students as required by the Department of Education and school administration.
· Completes weekly written lesson plans (providing opportunities to observe, question, and investigate) and prepares materials for all classes. Establishes clear objectives and communicates those objectives to students.
· Attends and participates in staff meetings and parent/student meetings as requested. (parent/teacher conferences, IEP meetings)
· Keeps the Director informed of any necessary information regarding the care and safety of students.
· Must be able to intervene and control agitated students through non-physical interventions.
· Teaches socially acceptable behavior employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement.
· Plans and supervises class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities and guides students in learning from those activities.
· Performs administrative duties such as lunch or bus duty and any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Must possess a desire to work with students with emotional & behavioral challenges. This position requires individuals that are client focused; team oriented; great interpersonal and communication skills; flexible to sudden changes in workload, emergency or staffing; dependable; problem solving skills; focused on compliance and performance quality. Education and/or Experience:
· Must possess and maintain current valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania teaching credential
· Bachelors in Education with a Special Education certificate
· Clearances for Child Abuse, FBI and State Criminal
· ACT 48 credits must be current and up-to-date
· CPR/First Aid Certification
REQUIREMENTS
BA in Education with Special Education Certificate
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Able to problem solve and work effectively with others
Skilled in Microsoft Office Applications
Exceptional listening skills
PA teaching credential
