TEAM LEAD ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 

Has the authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train and conduct performance evaluations. 
 

Assigns day-to-day work activities; directs the functional and technical job performance of team members. 
 

Allocate and direct staffing needs to meet patient, unit, and department needs, and collaborate with others to ensure overall staffing needs are met.           
 

Manage performance including: setting goals, clarifying job expectations, monitoring performance progress, providing feedback, recognize, developing skills and addressing performance issues related to work and our Commitments using corrective action.      
 
 
FUNCTIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 

Functions within the scope of practice as defined within state regulations.  The NP scope of practice will be defined by the Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner Policy and the Collaborative Practice Agreement as completed by the collaborating physician.  The Collaborative Practice Agreement shall be filed with the appropriate state licensing authority.
 

Cares for higher acuity patients that are medically stable. This includes but is not limited to: chest pain, shortness of breath, CHF, syncope, abdominal pain, MVA, and fractures. May work in collaboration with the physician as needed.
 

Perform procedures including but not limited to: suturing of uncomplicated wounds, removal of foreign bodies, incision and drainage of abscesses, and applying casts.
 

Orders and interprets diagnostic tests including but not limited to lab, radiology, EKG, and blood gasses.
 

Provides assessment and treatment of Emergency Department patients, including appropriate diagnostic testing, per protocol.
 

Maintains knowledge of EMTALA regulations.
 

Performs Medical Screening Examination as defined by Alegent Health System EMTALA policy and as authorized by the Alegent Health Board of Directors.
 

Orders and/or administers injections and immunizations.
 
Hours 7:00pm-7:00am, every 3rd weekend','!*!QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Experience:
 
Previous experience in ambulatory primary care is preferred.
Previous experience in emergency medicine is preferred.
 
 
Education/Licensure:
 
BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire.  Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following:  American Red Cross:  CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute:  CPR, PRO, must say “Professional Level-with AED”, and American Heart Association:  Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
 
ACLS or ACLS instructor certification is required within 12 months.  Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following:  American Heart Association:  Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Safety and Health Institute:  ACLS, American College of Surgeons:  ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) and American College of Emergency Physician:  ACLS
 
PALS (Pediatric Cardiac Life Support) or PALS instructor certification required within 12 months.  Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following:  American Heart Association:  Pediatric Advanced Life Support, American Safety and Health Institute:  PALS, Emergency Nurses Association:  Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), American Academy of Pediatrics:  Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP), and American Academy of Pediatrics/American College of Emergency Physicians:  APLS.
