Under the supervision of the Director of the Pre-Professional Advising Center this individual will perform a variety of advising, programming, and administrative functions to assist in the daily operations of the Pre-Professional Advising Center. In consultation with the BS in IPHS Program Director, the Health Professions Academic Advisor (HPAA) will provide academic advising for students in the four-year Bachelor of Science in Interprofessional Health Sciences (BS in IPHS) and dual degree Exercise Science/Athletic Training (ES/AT) program in the School of Health and Medical Sciences (SHMS). This individual will report to the Director of the PPAC and will located in the PPAC at the South Orange Campus. This is a joint advisement position between the PPAC and the BS in IPHS program in SHMS.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.IPHS Advising
This individual will advise entering, and continuing undergraduate students in the four-year BS in IPHS and undergraduate students and graduate students (in transition) in the BS in IPHS ES/AT dual degree program. Duties include providing information and assistance to students concerning academic requirements, curricula, registration and scheduling, course selection and related policies and procedures; tracking students’ progress and ensuring that they continue to meet program progression requirements to graduate from the BS in IPHS program, or to transition into the graduate portion of the BS in IPHS dual degree ES/AT program. This individual will maintain student records pertaining to academic advisement services and initiate and process paperwork; prepare materials for dissemination to students, administrators, and faculty; and provide data collection and analytic support assessment to measure effectiveness and student satisfaction with current programs and events.

2. PPAC Advising
The Health Professions Academic Advisor will work with the Pre-Professional Advising Center (PPAC) to conduct 1:1 and group pre-health/pre-professional advising and coaching for students interested in exploring, preparing, and applying to health professional schools. The advisor may work with students from differing majors, and grade levels. Students may include those that have been dismissed from a health science dual degree program or transitioning to other health science options. This individual will maintain student records pertaining to student professional goals through COMPASS. This individual will assist students with confirming shadowing and other healthcare opportunities outside of the classroom to build application competitiveness. The advisor will assist students as necessary as they prepare and develop into competitive applicants for professional schools.

3. PPAC Programming
This individual will assist with the coordination of PPAC programming, such as confirming speakers, co-sponsors, rooms, and other logistics. Help facilitate current on-going PPAC series such as the Health Professions Exploration series, Application Bootcamp series, Empowered to Achieve Peer Support group, and other events. This individual will provide data collection and analytic support assessment to measure effectiveness and student satisfaction with current programs and events.

4. Outreach
This individual will collaborate with other advisors, admissions, registrar, department chairs, faculty, and other university personnel, and represent the Dean and SHMS as well as PPAC to internal and external constituencies. This will include systematic and regular coordination with and monitoring by the PPAC Director, BS IPHS Program Director Department Chair and in consultation with the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate and Clinical Education.
This includes acting as a referral for students to other campus support services, making recommendations regarding student dismissals, offering data trends on student performance in the programs and recommendations, as well as broadening student learning by enhancing an inclusive and supportive environment through community engagement and collaborative partnerships. This individual will attend and participate if needed at Open Houses, IPE events, Alumni events, receptions, etc., in representation of the Professional Advising Center and/or the IPHS dual degree ES/AT program

5. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree, prior experience (1-3 years) in advising, counseling, student services, or program development a plus.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's Degree
Experience in an academic or higher education environment, preferably in advising, counseling, student services, or program development; degree in a health-relatd profession is preferred but not mandatory.
