What you will do:

Director of the Centro de Excelencia at
NLU
, the
CLAVE
Graduate Student Services Manager
will be responsible for coordinating all program activities related to the the success of Latinx graduate students including recruitment, retention/graduation and career transition support. Working collaboratively with other departments, ensures highly effective, integrated support services contributing to academic and scholarly outcomes for Latinx graduate students. The incumbent is also responsible for advancing the goals and objectives of NLU's Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans (
PPOHA
) program, a grant from the Hispanic Serving Institutions Division of the Department of Education.

Responsibilities and Outcomes
Provides overall strategic coordination and leadership to the
CLAVE
Graduate Student Institute overseeing daily operations that involve support for graduate students, working with key stakeholders in developing engaging programming that builds strong support networks for students. Incumbent will advance the activities of the
CLAVE
Graduate Student Institute that includes increase graduate students' professional networks, writing capacity, and financial and personal knowledge base.
Through partnership with graduate and professional programs, leads initiatives to recruit graduate Latinx and other underrepresented student populations.
Works with
CLAVE
Graduate Student Institute Faculty Associate Director and Writing Support Specialist to implement student support services for success in graduate level writing.
Manages the facilitation of marketing and provides administrative management for the
CLAVE
Fellowship Grant program, including coordination of mentorship and success of
CLAVE
graduate fellows.
Represents the University and actively participates in professional meetings and functions related to Hispanic Serving Institution matters advancing the institution's reputation as a Minority Serving Institution. Seeks out and successfully encourages partnership opportunities.
Functions as coach/mentor to graduate Latinx and underrepresented students connecting them with appropriate services to ensure academic, personal, and other forms of support. Coordinates placement of Fellows with mentor faculty, supports these faculty, and develops/implements culturally relevant training for students, faculty and staff.
Elevate campus-wide support for graduate student success by coordinating university-wide graduate orientation programs and advise graduate professional organization.
Your Competencies:
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
Master's Degree in Higher Education, Hispanic and/or Latin American Culture Studies, or closely related field
Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred
1-3 years related work experience serving Latinx students in a Higher Education setting, required
Effective Project Management skills. Manages each stage of a project to ensure that commitments are met in a manner that is timely and within budget. Clearly defines roles and responsibilities, determines necessary resources, and monitors project performance through appropriate systems and procedures.
Track record for increasing enrollment and retention of Latinx and underrepresented students through creative programming, support, outreach, etc.
Effective leadership style. Models behaviors expected of others and inspires others to take on challenging projects and initiatives. Holds team accountable but provides support when needed
