JOB OVERVIEW
UC International Services is looking for an Immigration Services Advisor to oversee matters pertaining to employment and permanent resident petitions. The position will perform a variety of support services for the unit that entails providing advice to international students, scholars, and staff on immigration and visa matters. The Immigration Services Advisor will report directly to the Director and Associate Director of International Services and will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity to our international students, faculty, staff and all other activities.
 

The Immigration Services Advisor will perform a variety of duties in providing advice to international students and scholars on immigration and visa matters. The position will advise sponsoring departments on all matters related to filing employment and permanent resident petitions. The Advisor will assist with the administration of the University's Program Electronic Review Management System (PERM), completing I-129 employment petitions, filing labor certifications, I-140's, I-485's, and other processes related to sponsoring international employees for lawful permanent residence.

 

The position will also help maintain Sunapsis international office management system. Other duties will be required and assigned by the Director of International Services. Position will have a possibility to work from home 2-3 days per week once trained and as business needs allow.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Advise international scholars regarding immigration policies and procedures.    *Plan and coordinate the preparation of non-immigrant, immigrant and adjustment of status petitions for filing with the United States Customs and Immigration Services department. *Manage the preparation of labor certification applications for submission to the US Department of Labor; content of Department of Labor audit files.  *Prepare and submit Labor Certification application for permanent employment to the US Department of Labor.  Prepare and maintain required files for compliance with US Department of Labor regulations regarding retention limits and audits.  *Prepare immigrant visa petitions; assist with preparation of I-485 Adjustment of status to Permanent Resident; prepare and submit Labor Condition Applications and prevailing wage determination requests to US Department of Labor; update database records and monitor compliance issues. 
REQUIRED EDUCATION
*Bachelor's Degree *Twelve (12) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED
*Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States to satisfy Department of State regulations *Experience filing H-1B specialty worker or Labor Certification. *Experience processing immigration petitions (form I-129, I-140, I-485) and Labor Certifications. *Knowledge of best practices in international higher education and/or providing services to international employees. *Ability to interact with administrators and faculty in a highly professional manner *Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. *Experience using the Sunapsis International Office platform.

*Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
