Position Description: Teach English at Middle and High School levels within the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programs. Fully support residential life in a boarding environment, including chaperoning activities/field trips.Preferred Academic Qualifications:B.A (or equivalent) in the relevant academic field, MA desirableTeacher certification, B.Ed. or equivalent from a full-time program with a practicum or student teaching component desirableProfessional Experience:At least three years of teaching experience preferably in an IB, multi-cultural or international context with students of different age groups desirable.Professional Skills:Dedicated to student learningStrong communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational skillsTeam player with the ability to delegate and coordinate workWilling to work creatively with available materials/ resourcesAble to create and teach interdisciplinary lessonsUnderstand the developmental characteristics, differences in learning styles and intelligence and adapt lesson planning and teaching appropriatelyCapacity to support the goals and mission of KIS through his/her personal philosophyResponsibilities:Support KIS guiding principlesTeach up to 75 PERCENT out of total instructional periods in a 6-day cyclePreparation, marking, report writing and all other administration related to the teaching of the subject(s)Participate in departmental meetings, planning, in-service training activities and invigilation duties as required by the Head of Department or CoordinatorsBe available to conference with students out of classPromptly pass information to advisors, residential Parents and Coordinators when students attendance, academic performance or behavior is praiseworthy or giving cause for concernTo be available for work on campus in good time to complete all necessary preparations and meetings before the start of the termTo hand-over all relevant material l to the HoD / Coordinator upon departure from KISTo respect the confidential nature of discussions at staff meetings and other contexts in which sensitive information is likely to be communicated particularly in terms of interaction with studentsSupport the residential life of the school by chaperoning activities, clubs, field trips, camp, long weekend field day etc., and being an advisor to a group of studentsFulfill other duties as required by the Head of department/Vice Principal/Principal
