System Administrator Summary:
Rowan University is seeking an experienced, adaptable System Administrator to join our Device Management group. In this position you will be responsible for the management of all Apple MacOS and iOS Rowan end-user devices and providing expert level technical assistance to faculty, staff and students. This includes oversight of all university owned end-user computers, tablets, printers, and digital signs (over 7,000 devices at present). Reporting to the Director of Device Management, this position's main responsibilities will include supporting the University's Enterprise Application Delivery environment and helping to guide Rowan's Desktop and Device Management strategy.
General Responsibilities:
Subject matter expert for the University's MacOS, iOS, and Apple technologies within a JAMF enterprise environment.
Support and maintain Chrome OS and Windows OS on university managed computers.
Support and maintain the university's digital signage platform.
Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve system issues, documenting problem resolutions.
Work directly with University Faculty on selecting and implementing software for use in research and educational settings.
Create and maintain system documentation, operational procedures, architectural documentation and hardware / software inventories.
Respond to escalated system support calls, resolve assigned tickets and document resolutions.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree or 4 (four) years equivalent work experience in a technical field. Professional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
Minimum of 4 (four) years of professional experience in MacOS, iOS and Apple technologies in an Enterprise environment.
JAMF Certification
Extensive technical knowledge on Windows and Mac operating systems.
Experience with Enterprise Desktop Management products.
Ability to think independently and strength in solving complex technical problems and offering creative solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Recommended Skills:
Experience designing and supporting large scale workstation and mobile device management strategies in a highly regulated environment with diverse needs, including device imaging, software distribution, software packaging, application virtualization, inventory control, etc.
Experience with Enterprise Desktop Antivirus and Encryption systems (McAfee, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint).
Experience with virtual platforms such as VMware or Citrix.
Familiarity with bash, python, PowerShell, VBScript, AutoIt, or other scripting languages.
Familiarity with ITIL and Information Security concepts and best practices.
Experience planning and executing enterprise-wide infrastructure initiatives.
