Housing Facilities Services
(HFS) at the University of Colorado Boulder welcomes applications for the Logistics Handler
position! This role exists to perform thermal remediation treatments, operate vehicles, move equipment and supplies within Housing and Dining Services (HDS) facilities and assist other trades personnel as needed in preventive maintenance / repairs within HDS facilities.

Who We Are
Housing Facilities Services
is a comprehensive facility management operation that provides around-the-clock support for 25 residence halls, 6 graduate and family housing complexes, 5 dining facilities and several administrative and auxiliary buildings across 167 acres of landscape. The department serves over 10,000 residents and 20,000 conference guests annually. Services include maintenance, repair, renovation, project management, capital construction, housekeeping, and grounds keeping operations. HFS has approximately 190 full-time employees, as well as approximately 80 part-time and student staff, who all strive to give residents the best living experience possible.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Deliver, Set Up, and Assemble Appliances, Furniture and Supplies for HDS Facilities
Delivering materials and supplies to worksites.
Assemble furniture and appliances.
Repair furniture, appliances and equipment.
Use of a university vehicle will be required to complete most of these duties. Must be CMV (commercial motor vehicle) certified.
Coordinate the delivery set up and removal of equipment material and supplies while minimizing impact on students and faculty.
Choosing the best material handling tools and delivery methods.
Determine the best way to safely lift, move, and operate vehicles and equipment.
Daily driving requirement of a box truck (10,000 lbs plus).
Equipment needs to be moved up several flights of stairs to the desired location. May require assistance from building trades person and or supervisor. Determine the best way to disassemble items, so they can be moved in the elevators safely.
Pest Control Thermal Remediation/Set Up and Breakdown
Deliver, set up, monitor and breakdown all thermal remediation equipment for thermal treatments.
Must operate generator, connect electrical cables to the generator and thermal heaters, set up temperature sensors, place fans to properly distribute warm air during treatment, operate laptop computer in order to supervise the temperature settings and treatment progress.
Determine the best way to safely lift, move, and operate the thermal equipment and supplies while minimizing disturbance to customers. Schedule with Shop Zone supervisor and the supervisor of the area to insure a well-organized procedure of thermal remediation process is accomplished. This will require the most efficient use of vehicle, equipment and time. Choosing appropriate material handling tools and equipment required for scheduled workload.
Move thermal remediation equipment, supplies, furniture, and other miscellaneous items as needed in and out of housing facilities.
Support of Maintenance and ES as Required
Assist building trades with preventive maintenance tasks.
Remove and replace air filters in air handlers and fan coils.
Hang blinds in housing units.
Clean and maintain mechanical areas and equipment.
Painting of equipment and floors, sweep and mop floors, labeling of pipes, replacing light bulbs.
Assist the solid surface shop with building projects. Duties will require driving of a university vehicle.
Ensure the accurate size filters are available. Ensure all the necessary materials and supplies are available to perform the necessary duties and tasks.
Other Duties as Assigned
Remove snow and ice from parking lots, sidewalks, streets, patios, and entrances. Apply salt to enhance safety of entrances. Deliver Ice melt to storage locations on campus.
Coordinate with snow marshals, coworkers, and supervisor for times and specific direction and methods while minimizing impact on other workload or inconvenience to customers and other duties.
Warehouse/Inventory
Assist with loading and unloading of deliveries and shipments. Assist with stocking shelves, annual inventory, organizing and cleaning of warehouse and storeroom.
Use electric pallet jack to load and unload trucks, use warehouse forklift to store and remove larger items on pallet racking, use iPhone and iPads to assist in scanning items for annual inventory. Use cleaning supplies to maintain safe and clean work area.
In performing inventory duties this position my encounter a discrepancy in the count. Must let the materials supervisor know so inventory can be corrected.
In performing the duties of unloading a delivery this position may encounter damaged freight. Must report the damage to the materials supervisor so the damage can be noted and a claim filed.

What We Require
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card and Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) certification to operate vehicles essential to the position.
What We Would Like You To Have
Experience driving a truck with GVWR of 10,001-lbs or greater.
Experience with Snow Removal Equipment.
Experience in the use of material handling equipment.
