Definition of Class
This position manages the principal gifts program. The incumbent works with development officers to develop and plan fundraising efforts; identifies opportunities for cultivation, engagement, and funding with principal gift donors, and provides guidance and direction to staff.
Examples of Work Performed
Works with development officers to move prospects of $1M through pipelines.
Assists in identifying, qualifying, and prioritizing prospects for fundraising opportunities.
Plans strategies for fundraising efforts for university priorities and works with development officers to execute the plans.
Holds monthly meetings for the principal gifts team.
Provides guidance and direction for the principal gifts team.
Organizes development officer and university officials' strategy meetings for prospects who have more than one area of interest.
Meets with development officers to develop detailed plans for each $1M prospects.
Works with the Chancellor's office to schedule principal gift prospects with the chancellor.
Monitors principal gifts prospect plans to ensure team is focused on priority prospects and donors.
Assists in solicitation and stewardship efforts associated with donor volunteer groups.
Collaborates with development staff to prepare for and follow up with advisory and campaign committee meetings.
Collaborates with departments across campus to identify university-wide needs and recognize potentially interested donors.
Works with the prospect management and research team to build metrics related to principal gift work.
Monitors and reports on progress of strategic plans and goals.
Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Essential Functions
These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring Department.

Plans strategies with development officers for prospects of $1M and monitors progress.
Provides guidance and direction to staff.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field.
AND
Experience:
Four (4) years of experience related to the above described duties.
Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
