JOB OVERVIEW
The Assistant Director of Training & Development in Resident Education and Development sits on the leadership team of the department and directly supervises 2 full-time Area Coordinators who manages neighborhoods of campus.  This particular AD is responsible for setting a vision for staff training bi-annually, supporting the hall staff with execution of various training seasons, as well as oversees the ongoing professional development of our entire department.  The AD should have a strong ability to network across campus as well as regionally to provide opportunities for professional development both for student and full-time staff in RED.  The AD serves on the management team on-call duty rotation and may be responsible for responding to after-hours crises or support.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Assist in the development and recommendation of policies and procedures, and in the implementation of the residential curriculum and strategic plan. *Support the development of policies, protocols, and trainings for all student employees and student leaders within RED.   *Serve in after-hours emergency contact rotation with members of the RED Leadership Team. *May coordinate assessment of residence hall damage charges. *Liaison with university offices to provide services to residence halls. *Prepare statistical reports as requested by director. *Chair department committees and represent Resident Development at student affairs leadership level meetings as requested by director. *Assist with coordinating, developing and updating publications. *May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). 
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree must be in College Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration or related field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
*Five (5) years of experience in Student Personnel, Counseling, higher education or residence hall administration or a related field. *Previous supervisory experience.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED
Master's Degree.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
*Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
