Description
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Western invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, computer science program director starting January 2023. The university is committed to three years of program startup with funding from a Perkins grant. This invitation seeks a dynamic individual capable of working and teaching in an innovative environment to create new academic programming. The director will report to the Division Chair of Business and Technology and work closely with the Chief Information Officer to review and revise existing curricula (AAS in Business with an option in Office Systems Management, Secondary Education Certificate or BS minor in Computer Science k-12, and BS in Business Administration with a minor in Web and Digital Media) and to develop new stackable degree options in business, education and information technology. The director will pursue academic excellence within the program by providing leadership, promoting new program options, assisting with student recruiting and retention efforts, and managing day-to-day program logistics. This position will include some teaching of the academic programming.
Montana Western’s computer science program is being designed to meet workforce needs in software engineering by providing experiential education in all aspects of the development lifecycle as well as coding to support instructional technology. Initial curricula development will focus on the university’s one- and two-year degree offerings.
Required Qualifications
Candidates for the position must possess the following:
Ability to learn and apply new technologies in computer science
Ability to collaborate with professionals in an academic setting
Master’s degree in computer science or closely related field
or
a bachelor’s degree and 18 graduate credits in a related field
Administrative experience in program planning and implementation, evaluation, and
Teaching experience is preferred
Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to excellence
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate preferred in computer science
