The Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) and **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. School of Medicine are pleased to announce an opportunity for an outstanding investigator in diverse areas of cancer research as part of a significant expansion of the cancer center research portfolio. This tenure track position will be assigned to one of our cancer center programs in breast cancer, cancer prevention and control and molecular oncology/experimental therapeutics. Applicants from diverse scientific disciplines are welcome. Appointments will be accompanied by significant financial resources to support faculty research.

Medical Center is an academic health sciences center in Washington, DC, and serves a broad range of medical and biomedical graduate education and training activities, clinical and translational sciences, and patient care with MedStar Health. In addition to the medical school, there is a school of nursing and health studies, and schools of law, public policy, business, arts and sciences, and international affairs. The LCCC is an NCI-designated Consortium Comprehensive Cancer Center, with >125 members conducting cutting-edge research and clinical trials across the region, nationally, and internationally. With campuses in Washington, DC and Bergen County, NJ, the cancer center spans a diverse catchment area and leads groundbreaking discoveries in molecular oncology, experimental therapeutics, breast cancer research, hematologic malignancies, and cancer population sciences. Combined, LCCC and its research partners have access to the largest clinical network in the mid-Atlantic region, and boast a comprehensive collection of research shared resources.
Successful candidates will have a doctoral and/or medical degree and a focus on areas of cancer research that are relevant to the LCCC mission. Applicants are required to have a strong track record of cancer-relevant publications and current peer reviewed, cancer-focused funding.
The Breast Cancer Research Program has three broad aims: Responsiveness to systemic therapies
Interaction mechanisms connecting the tumor macro and micro environment to breast cancer prevention and progression
Novel strategies for breast cancer therapy.
The Cancer Prevention and Control Program has the following aims: Risk factors and biomarkers for cancer and early detection
Primary and secondary cancer prevention strategies
Policy-relevant research on cancer treatments and survivorship.
The Molecular Oncology and Experimental Therapeutic Research Program has three overarching and interrelated foci: Identifying pathways and molecular targets in cancer
Understanding and exploiting the crosstalk between cancer cells, the tumor microenvironment and the immune system
Evaluating cancer genomics and epigenetics.
LCCC encourages cross-cutting research that includes clinical translation and interactions with a full spectrum of LCCC disease-based clinical research groups. Particular areas of emphasis within these disciplines include data science/cancer genomics, cancer survivorship, immunotherapy and minority health/health disparities, with an emphasis on needs in the LCCC catchment area.
