We are seeking a Research Assistant with experience in cell/molecular biology with an interest in working with world class research scientists developing cell based small molecule and CRISPR/Cas9 screens across a range of pathologies including cancer, virology, and immune response.
You will be responsible for supporting the development of cellular assays, helping to scale them down to microtiter format and producing high throughput screens using CRISPR/Cas9 genome-wide libraries, arrayed CRISPR or small molecule compound libraries.  You will be a highly organized and productive member of a growing high throughput screening team aiming to deliver multiple projects per year as a member of the Exscientia - OxTDI PHENOMICS and FUNCTIONAL GENOMICS DISCOVERY PLATEFORM (PDP). You will be based at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.’s NDM Research Building on the Old Road Campus where you will be employing cutting edge research tools (CRISPR/Cas9, iPSC-derived cells, high throughput liquid handling robotics, primary cells, genome engineering, high-content imaging and high-throughput assays) and developing new skills and techniques as you gain research experience.  You must be an enthusiastic, motivated and talented laboratory scientist, showing initiative and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. We actively encourage scientists from all disease backgrounds, but with the necessary cell/molecular biology experience, to apply.
It is essential that you hold a first degree in Biochemistry, Cell/Molecular Biology or related, together with relevant laboratory experience. You will have expertise in cell culture of immortalized cell lines, primary and iPSC cells. You will also have experience in supporting scientists in a large research group with generating reagents, growing bacterial stocks, maintaining relevant cell lines for research or other tasks which promote efficient laboratory research group management. You will have knowledge of general molecular biology techniques (PCR, protein and DNA purification and quantification, gels, etc) and immuno-based techniques (e.g. western blotting, immunofluorescence, FACS).
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
This post is offered full-time on a fixed term contract until 1 November 2024, and is funded by Exscientia Public Private Partnership.
