JOB OVERVIEW
As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine's faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department of Surgery is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.
A full-time faculty position is available in the Department of Surgery as a multi-organ transplant surgeon with an interest in vascular access for a full-time, non-tenure track position. This position joins an active faculty group and busy transplant program dedicated to a clinical practice supporting transplant patients, oncology patients, patients needing access for dialysis; resident teaching activities of surgery residents and fellows; and clinical research. Candidates should have a clear interest in education of resident surgeons and medical students as well as demonstrate a commitment to an academic career through research, teaching, and supporting the department's academic mission. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Duties will include:
*Responsibilities for the clinical, research and teaching activities for our students, residents and fellows. *This position will participate in the operating room, ward teaching, and the advising and training of fellows, surgical residents, and medical students.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
*MD or equivalent. *Completion of a five-year accredited residency in Surgery. *BC/BE in General Surgery alone with specialty training in Transplantation Surgery or Vascular Surgery. *Licensure by Ohio Medical Board is required by time of appointment.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED
*Prior experience as a surgical attending in transplantation. *Ability to perform laparoscopic live donor nephrectomy. *Experience in vascular access surgery. *Solid organ abdominal transplantation with special interest in kidney and pancreas transplant and comprehensive vascular access services. *Specific interest in dialysis access, end-stage renal disease and kidney transplantation.
