seeks a dynamic, student-centered, educational leader as the its new
Director
Located in Hamilton, Montana, one of the country’s quickly growing small towns and noted for its livability, UM Bitterroot is a comprehensive, rural post-secondary education campus just 55 minutes from **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. The institution hosts more than 150 students and promotes learning, student success, retention and local workforce needs through the Bitterroot Valley, providing access to an affordable education and workforce training.
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Bitterroot Director leads the vision of the campus and is expected to work collaboratively with community and county stakeholders to support students while meeting workforce needs in the area. The Director has general oversight of all operations, including the appointment of faculty and staff, as well as academic and non-credit courses. The Director oversees a small staff including an Associate Director of Academic and Workforce Development, the Student Success and Operations Manager as well as a Front Office Coordinator. The UM Bitterroot Director will be heavily supported by UM’s Missoula College. Reporting directly to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Missoula College Dean, the position includes support from Missoula College’s Director of Academic Affairs, Director of Student Success, and the Director of Operations and Finance in all aspects including course planning, scheduling, budget and finance operations, personnel contracts, and all areas within student success.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work collaboratively to ensure UM Bitterroot students succeed and complete programs. Provide general oversight in a multitude of student success areas (academic scheduling, enrollment, registration, advising, financial aid and student billing).
Provide strategic direction for **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Bitterroot and advocate for equitable and sustainable access to workforce development at all levels in the Bitterroot Valley. This includes non-credit workforce training and college coursework applicable for short term certificates, associate, bachelor, and master degrees.
Collaborate almost daily with the Missoula College Dean and all of the Missoula College leadership team.
Work with the Missoula College Director of Academic Affairs to schedule coursework and develop strong education pathways for Bitterroot Valley students through **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..
Engage Bitterroot Valley education and industry leaders in workforce development conversations and decision making.
Oversee all UM Bitterroot staff, faculty and workforce supervisors.
Work with the Missoula College Director of Operations and Finance to oversee the UM Bitterroot budget.
Partner with Accelerate Montana in providing non-credit workforce training in the Bitterroot Valley.
Partner with UM Marketing and Communications to exercise oversight over general outreach, marketing and communications for UM Bitterroot, including social media, website development, and student recruitment with UM Admissions.
Partner with all K-12 schools in the Bitterroot Valley to ensure pathways exist for those students that want to pursue higher education that can help lead to economic mobility. Partnering, listening, serving and acting with the employers in the region to serve workforce needs.
Work closely with all other UM mountain campus student support offices to best support students including UM Admissions, Business Services, Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, Office for Student Success, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor degree in education or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in management and leadership
Experience in budgeting and management
Experience in public outreach and communication
Strong writing and verbal communication skills
Experience in operations management
Ability to provide innovative leadership to a team
Excels at developing, learning, retaining, performing, and communicating process details
Preferred Qualifications
Skills include proficiency in Banner system (UM record management system), CyberBear (UM student & employee management system), and ASAP (Bitterroot College’s continuing education enrollment management system)
Leading in an educational setting or educational leadership experience
Master Degree
Position Details:
Salary: $75,000- $85,000 per year and is commensurate with qualifications.
Start Date: The ideal start date would be March 2023 but plans for a later start date could be arranged.
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package
