New personnel limited to a maximum third step initial placement based on previous experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience and/or an associate degree and six years of experience in a closely related industry.

Job Description Summary
All full-time faculty are expected to participate actively in their disciplines, department activities, and the general intellectual life and governance of the college. Part of the teaching assignment may be online, in the evening, and/or on Saturdays. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Teaching lower division college courses in Manufacturing Design, Maintenance, and Machine Tool Technology related topics.
• Actively maintaining related industry certifications and credentials to meet accreditation requirements in the subject area.
• Maintaining curriculum outlines and outcome assessment information that supports and informs certificate and degree programs that meet industry skill competency needs along with certificate and degree programs aligned to 3rd party industry certification vetted and recognized by industry. (i.e. FANUC, MasterCAM, NIMS, and HAAS certifications).
• Maintaining and upgrading instructional machinery, tooling, laboratory space, materials and inventories.
• Establishing relationships with local area businesses and industry representatives in meeting their workforce skill and employment needs.
• Maintaining an active Manufacturing, Maintenance & Machine Tool Technology advisory committee composed of local high schools, workforce investment groups, students and industry representatives that meets 2-4 times per year to review program performance, facility needs, program learning goals, and student readiness for placement opportunities in industry.
• Participating in college governance through department, division committees, and/or college wide workgroup or council work.
• Providing academic, career and program advising to students “seeking to” or “currently” enrolled in classes. Work with MJC Counseling for appropriate referrals.
• Creating an effective student-centered learning environment for students in the classroom, laboratory and work site settings.
• Directing and mentoring part-time discipline instructors and classified employee lab support in program.
• Integrating the latest research in presentations and utilize a variety of teaching/learning strategies including the use of technology to promote student learning and assessment of learning outcomes.
• Participating in professional development activities to maintain credentials, enhance pedagogical knowledge base related to teaching/learning, and to keep abreast of changes in the profession and Manufacturing, Maintenance and Machining industry trends in general.
• Collaborating with the Division Dean in the recommendation of class scheduling, student success/program planning, and program area resource needs.
• Advancing equitable student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction in accordance with established course outlines.
• Informing students of course requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements.
• Preparing and grading class assignments and examinations and informing students of their academic progress.
• Maintaining attendance, scholastic, and other records and submitting them according to published policies and deadlines.
• Attending department, division, and college-wide meetings on a regular basis.
• Posting and holding sufficient and regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy.
• Developing, implementing, and assessing student-learning outcomes for courses and programs and using the results for improvement.
• Engaging in data inquiry and self-assessment to develop strategies for student success, persistence, and equity.
• Collaborating in the development and revision of curriculum and in program review.
• Engaging in department program improvement initiatives.
• Participating in professional development activities, both departmental and college-wide, especially in connection to statewide initiatives.
• Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter area and effective teaching/learning strategies.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STANDARDS
• Mobility: ability to sit or stand for long periods, move about an office, and reach above and below desk level.
• Dexterity: fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard, handle individual papers, write and take notes.
• Lifting: occasional lifting of papers, files, equipment and material weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Visual Requirements: close vision sufficient to read files, documents, and computer screens and do close-up work; ability to adjust focus frequently.
• Hearing/Talking: ability to hear normal speech, speak and hear on the telephone, and speak in person.
• Emotional/Psychological Factors: ability to make decisions and concentrate; frequent contact with others including some public contact; frequent deadlines and time-limited assignments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Six (6) years or more of recent experience with Fanuc and Haas CNC machines, manual mills and lathes in a manufacturing or machine shop production.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing Industrial Equipment and Machine Tools.
• Academic or industry training that would enhance teaching abilities and subject matter expertise in machine tool technology, machine and/or manufacturing courses.
• Possess computer skills to develop innovative CTE online education courses and social media connections for a professional and student campus program culture.
• Qualified to operate and repair all types of machine tool technology equipment.
• Experience operating a forklift and in moving and setting up industrial machinery.
• Ability to effectively instruct, supervise, and evaluate students in classroom, laboratory and clinical/externship settings.
• Experience with current cutting tool types, grades, and material removal strategies.
• Competent in new pedagogies, such as accelerated learning, supplemental instruction, on-line or hybrid teaching, and other pedagogies directed at improving student success and student equity.
• Current understanding of assessment processes for improving student success at the course, program, and degree level.

• Recent experience working with African American/Black, Hispanic, Native American and other minoritized students in the classroom, and understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups within higher education shape patters of participation and outcomes.
• Willingness to examine and remediate one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students
• Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity in the classroom
• Experience and expertise in culturally responsive teaching in emergency medical services, especially as it relates to the relevancy of students’ lives, interests, and communities.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Hispanic-Serving designation for institutional, departmental and instructional practices.
