**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., an independent Preschool through Grade 8 school located in Far Hills, New Jersey, seeks a qualified STEAM teacher for our newly renovated space, “The Learning Commons.” Appropriate candidates will join a highly dedicated team of teachers at all grade levels. Our school curriculum is rich and varied, with an emphasis on Mind, Brain, and Education. The Learning Commons will feature a collaborative space for students and teachers to problem solve and create. It will be a place with a hands-on approach to learning and designing. We envision this space to help engage students, provide flexibility for classroom discussions, and provide opportunities for group and individual work. The Learning Commons will feature maker space equipment such as Wonder Workshop Robotics, Lego Mindstorm, 3D printing, Drones, VR, and more. Related duties shall be those guided by the NBPS, ISTE, and NGSS Standards and those assigned by the administrative leadership team. Responsibilities include managing the Learning Commons' vision, use, maintenance, and resources. The Makerspace Teacher’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Work with FH community in building innovation and STEAM Coordinate and maintain Maker Space equipment and curriculum Continuously develop and plan for the future with maker space and innovation in mind Design and teach STEAM classes (including computer science) Preschool-Grade 8 Create and lead parent education opportunities centered on STEAM learning. Integrate STEAM into core subjects while developing and improving curriculum; this will include both in the classroom and bringing the class to the Learning Commons Manages the use of maker equipment, including 3D printers, and other items Contribute to decision-making related to new maker equipment and spaces Inspires faculty and students to embrace making through teaching, professional development, and training Work with faculty and students to encourage using the learning commons as a tool for teaching and learning Continued self-growth with professional development Performs other duties as needed by the schools day to day Help support technology use in classes if needed The STEAM Teacher will meet with the Division Directors and the Director of Technology to review Educational Technology trends, needs for teacher/student development, and STEAM Education. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Bachelor’s degree in the subject area or equivalent required 3-5 years experience teaching STEAM courses, computer programming, and/or maker/innovation skills Experience with learning management systems, grading, grade books, and attendance. Google Classroom and Seesaw experience Instructional background in science and technology Creative, imaginative, and innovative mindset in teaching, coaching, and curricular design Experience (or familiarity) with tools such as, but not limited to Lego/Wonder Robots, Makey-Makey, Circuitry, Little Bits, Sphero, Tynker, and Scratch Must enjoy problem-solving and encourage students to do the same Experience with Design Thinking, MAC OS, IOS, and Google Apps preferred Apple Teacher and/or Google Certification.
