Assistant Teacher, Child Development Center The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., Child Development Center (CDC) invites applications for 2 experienced, dedicated and progressively minded individuals to serve as Assistant Teacher in a Twos classroom. Responsibilities:Support an emergent play-based curriculum in partnership with an experienced Lead Teacher to foster children's overall development and social-emotional skills based on the individual needs and interests of each child;Effectively engage with program team while supporting one lead teacher, and collaborating with classroom assistant teachers, volunteers, and other staff;Help implement developmentally appropriate, child-centered curriculum consistent with the CDC's mission and philosophy in emergent, open-ended play emphasizing emotional support and respect for each child;Maintain all standards of training and education as required by the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS), Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC);Develop and maintain strong connections with families; andFollow basic principles of early childhood development as defined in the NAEYC code of ethical conduct.Required Qualifications:Infant/Toddler CDA (Child Development Associate) or equivalent of a minimum 12 college credits in early childhood, child development, or early childhood special education;Demonstrated classroom experience with children birth to age 5 (experience with toddlers, ages 2-3 is preferred);The successful candidate must pass a tuberculosis (TB) screening and criminal record clearance before employment;CPR and First Aid certifications are required, but may be completed after employment; andEffective communication (both written and verbal) and some supervisory skills are necessary.Preferred Qualifications:Advanced degree in early childhood; andDemonstrated experience with dual and multilingual children, as well as experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
