ABOUT THE COLLEGE OF ALLIED HEALTH SERVICES
Interdisciplinary by design, the College of Allied Health Sciences encompasses four academic units and 33 graduate and undergraduate programs of study. Located in the new, state-of-the-art Health Sciences Building, CAHS includes departments of rehabilitation, exercise and nutrition sciences, communication sciences and disorders and health information sciences, and the school of social work. CAHS has been recently recognized for its audiology, physical therapy, speech/language pathology, and social work graduate programs and was the only allied health science college to be awarded the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award.
The College of Allied Health Sciences educates and prepares future allied health and other health science professionals to provide high quality service in their respective fields. In conjunction with community-based partners, students achieve clinical skills and learn the values of critical thinking, good communication, teamwork, cultural competence, and service learning. The college's faculty is committed to excellence in teaching, research, service, and leadership.
JOB OVERVIEW

The Dean is the chief executive officer of this academic unit. Reporting to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost, the Dean is responsible for overseeing the education of undergraduate and graduate students within the College; promoting a culture of inclusive and diverse scholarly excellence; monitoring and securing the College's financial resources and budgets; enhancing revenue, especially by engaging in private fundraising; strategic and operational planning that aligns with the university-wide Next Lives Here presidential initiative; program review; information resources; compliance at the college, university and governmental level; all personnel matters, including management of promotion and tenure processes; and facilitating student success.
The Dean will be responsible for implementing the policies and procedures developed by the Board of Trustees and administrative leadership of the campus and the University as a whole. In accomplishing this task, the Dean will seek opportunities for collaboration with colleges, schools and other academic units on the main academic campus, and the medical and regional campuses.
Specifically, the Dean will:
*Conceptualize a vision of CAHS's future that will motivate the faculty and inspire students; articulate this vision in terms of measurable goals and enlist the support of essential constituencies; *Provide leadership and guidance to CAHS in fulfilling its educational mission as a public, urban college; *Strengthen existing educational and research programs and develop new ones to meet the changing needs of the community; Promote research and create an environment that is conducive to research and learning with specific plans to operationalize research growth; *Attract and retain faculty of the highest caliber, providing them with an environment conducive to their professional development; *Enhance relationships between the College, the University, and Cincinnati's dynamic and diverse community by engaging in activities ranging from the dissemination of research carried out in CAHS to programs designed to impact the university's surrounding communities; and *Maintain and strengthen relationships within the University, including the development of interdisciplinary collaborations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To further improve the College's overall performance, the Dean of CAHS will be expected to own, embody and achieve the following:
*Support and advance the mission of the College and its role within an urban, public institution to impact and transform public health care in the region. The Dean will work with students, faculty, staff, alumni, state legislators and other constituencies to bring that mission, and the vision of Next Lives Here, to fruition. *Create a high-performance culture based on teamwork and humble partnership. *Show a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. *Ensure superior academic programs that are delivered by dedicated faculty. *Secure enrollment, quality of instruction, and support services. *Provide visionary leadership with a demonstrated ability to turn vision into reality. *Inspire students, faculty, staff, business leaders, and state and private funders through ambitious but attainable objectives; and building a plan that moves from ideation toward those objectives. *Translate decisions about the College's approximately $11.3 million budget to the strategic plan. *Strengthen existing relationships with major health, business, cultural and state intuitions, and build new relationships within the immediate Cincinnati community, the regional market and beyond. *Take a lead role in pursuing private funding for the College, supported by **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Foundation office. The current endowment of CAHS is approximately $8 million. In addition to private gifts, the Dean will support and enhance revenue streams from new and innovative programs and the development of intellectual property. *While it is expected that the Dean will possess a distinguished scholarly record and qualify for the rank of full professor in one of the College's academic units, candidates with equally valuable leadership abilities and outstanding accomplishment that could be translated into innovative leadership of the College will be considered. Regardless of one's career pathway, the Dean must demonstrate a commitment to outstanding teaching and research. Above all, he or she will maintain the highest personal and professional character and ethical standards necessary to lead an academic institution of UC's caliber.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Administrative experience is a must. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience dealing with entities external to academia, and fundraising experience is highly desired. Previous experience in the region could be advantageous, though not necessary.

*A record as an accomplished scholar or noted contributor to an allied health profession via leadership or other outstanding accomplishments *Eligibility for tenure at the rank of full professor in one of the College's academic units *Facilitation of the steps needed to achieve high national rankings and maintain its upward trajectory *A record of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion *Rigorous standards of professional achievement and ethical behavior *Commitment to and understanding of the principles and practices of assessment *Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills *Entrepreneurial orientation combined with boldness, imagination and abundant energy *Extensive knowledge of the challenges and issues facing higher education *Cognizance of the opportunities and advantages of the University's urban setting *Experience with allied health administration *Demonstrable capacity to lead the faculty in curricular and pedagogical reform and academic planning *Successful administrative and budgetary/financial experience *A management style that is inclusive, effective, team-oriented, and result-driven
