Cardiff University’s Research Commercialisation and Impact team is recruiting for a Research Commercialisation Project Officer. Cardiff University is an innovative, ambitious, and successful university which   recognises that our success depends largely upon the commitment, energy and enthusiasm of our people. We are delighted to be recruiting  to the Research Commercialisation Project Officer as part of Cardiff University HEFCW’s Research Wales Innovation Fund, 3-year Innovation Strategy to maximise the societal and economic impacts of the University’s excellent research. As part of this, this post is being created to support and enhance the commercialisation of research opportunities and translational activities with industry and other external organisations to help generate economic, social and environmental impact.
This new post will sit within the Research Commercialisation and Impact Team within Cardiff’s Research and Innovation Services Department and will support activities in translation and research commercialisation including intellectual property (IP), translational funding opportunities,  commercialisation of research and  creation of spinout companies and other impact related activities. The role will carry out supporting work, providing advice and guidance and assisting with leading projects within this area. 
The post will involve developing effective working with academics to translate and commercialise their research  across the University in order to contribute effectively to the delivery of the Innovation Strategy Importantly, the successful candidate will work fluidly across all academic disciplines, engaging with the University’s three colleges, Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, Biomedical & Life Sciences and Physical Sciences & Engineering and their constituent academic schools.  They will focus on enabling translational activity aligned with the University’s strategic research strengths (Neuroscience and Mental Health; Environment and Climate; Compound Semiconductors; Creative Economy; Civic and Social Society; Crime and Cybersecurity; and Data and AI).

The post is full time,  and available immediately on a fixed term contract basis until end July 2023 due to the nature of the work required however, this is an area of growing importance to the University, and if the programme is successful, there may be the  potential for roles to continue on a longer term basis.
Salary: £27,924 - £32,344 per annum (Grade 5)
