Job description
We invite applications from candidates in any field of Economics. We are particularly interested in candidates with research agendas related to a wide range of topics within macroeconomics: labour markets, monetary and fiscal policies, productivity, innovation, poverty, and income and wealth inequality. We value diversity and inclusion; applications from currently under-represented groups are particularly encouraged.
Successful candidates will be expected to engage in research, teach undergraduate and graduate students, including on the new MSc in Economics and Policy, and perform other faculty duties as required by the Head of Department. Candidates should have a PhD in Economics (or another closely related quantitative subject) or be close to completion. Your research profile and trajectory should be outstanding and translate into producing publications of international quality to further enhance the profile of the department.
Founded in 2010, the Department of Political Economy is a unique interdisciplinary enterprise located in the heart of London with proximity to both the world of politics and the city. The department is informed by an inclusive interdisciplinary vision; we encourage a diversity of approaches and methodological perspectives.
Base salary is competitive with peer institutions. Additional benefits include a good pension scheme, relocation package, a generous research allowance and excellent academic leave.
Start Date for this role would be September 2022, but a later start within the 2022-23 academic year is possible.

Key responsibilities
Contribute to the planning, organisation and delivery of teaching activities within the department in accordance with established departmental practice, and to ongoing curriculum development. At Grade 7, design, develop and deliver a range of programmes of study.
Contribute fully to developing and enhancing the research profile of the Department, School and College, including (Grade 6) establishing a track record of high-quality publication, (Grade 7) having a track record of high quality publication.
Develop and maintain individual/joint research projects in subject related areas. At Grade 7, contribute to the development of research strategies.
Supervise and train postgraduate students to ensure their effective development.
Act as personal tutor to students.
Participate fully in assessment and examination process as appropriate using a variety of methods and techniques and provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their leaning
Participate in and develop internal and external networks. At Grade 7, lead and develop networks.
Conduct individual or collaborative research projects. At Grade 7, act as principal investigator and project leader.
