The teaching assignment may be at the Liberal Arts campus, the Pacific Coast campus or other college teaching locations. The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, online or off campus and is subject to change as needed. Part-time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. Duties
DESCIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The LBCC Library is seeking applications from librarians who are collaborative, innovative, and motivated.
The Library is hiring several adjunct positions to undertake one or more of the electronic resources duties listed below: Overseeing the selection and purchasing of electronic resources, including but not limited to e-books, e-serials, databases and streaming video.
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Electronic Resources
The adjunct librarian, working closely with the full-time librarians, is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of electronic resources at both campus libraries. Overseeing the selection and purchasing of electronic resources, including but not limited to e-books, e-serials, databases and streaming video.
Communicating inclusively, with cultural sensitivity and be approachable in verbal, written, and non-verbal communications.
Creating and maintaining best practices for discoverability and accessibility of Library resources to improve electronic resource access, usability, and accessibility workflows and processes.
Providing support to Library faculty and staff and patrons, as appropriate, to resolve e-resource access and discovery problems.
Resolving discoverability and accessibility issues or referring issues to the Systems Librarian.
Using Alma/Primo and user authentication platforms, such as EZProxy.
Inspiring friendly customer service and modelling exemplary customer care in all interactions--including in-person and online.
Providing basic demonstration/instruction to faculty and staff in usage of electronic resources.
Seeking feedback from Library faculty and staff to regularly improve electronic resource system functionality.
Compiling usage statistics and conducting user satisfaction surveys
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
Customer service skills, problem solving, experience in providing reference services, knowledge of or willing to learn Alma. Ability to maintain accurate records in spreadsheets and in Alma.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's in Library Science (MLS) or Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA accredited library school; OR,2. The equivalent.3. Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the library AND effectively provide assistance to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience working in a community college library 2. Expertise in Electronic Resources.3. Knowledge of Alma and EZProxy or experience working with Integrated Library Systems and authentication platforms.
