General Description of Position:
The Assistant Vice President for Ivy IT Academy (AVP) provides professional leadership in the establishment, creation, scaling, and operations for Ivy Tech’s Ivy IT Academy (Academy). The IT Academy provides an ecosystem for campuses and Systems Office to partner to offer affordable accelerated, flexible, and customized employer training across the state. The AVP works closely with the Senior Vice President for Workforce & Careers, the Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer, the Provost/Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Senior Vice President for Business Affairs & CFO, workforce sector Vice Presidents, Chancellors, campus academic officers, applicable Ivy Tech curriculum committees, and the Vice President for Ivy Career Link and the statewide team of Career Link staff to ensure the College is providing the appropriate courses and services in the communities served by Ivy Tech. The AVP will utilize voice-of-the-customer and demand-driven data to develop strategies and execute plans to achieve goals set for the Academy. The AVP will assist and represent College leadership in establishing collaborative relationships with employers and associations related to the economic sectors most in need of the Academy’s graduates. These sectors and communities will benefit from the College’s mission to enhance the educational achievement of Hoosiers in the information technology sector.
Major Responsibilities:
Design and deliver a comprehensive plan on the future structure of the Academy.
Determine a timeline and design a project plan for the implementation of the Academy, consulting with internal stakeholders to produce an effective implementation strategy with appropriate change management, systemwide buy-in, and support included.
Design a comprehensive roadmap for curriculum and degrees for the Academy working with internal stakeholders and faculty.
Ensure assigned programs and curricula comply with academic policies and work to build “credit-worthy” programs with stackability and transferability into other academic programs, both internally and with partner entities.
Manage and/or execute course development specific to the IT Academy.
Design and execute a comprehensive and effective marketing plan for the Academy including a projected return on investment, that works cohesively with the college-wide’s marketing efforts.
Assess and provide recommendations on how internal support functions should be designed to best serve the Ivy Tech Academy.
Create resources and presentations for academic, state, and federal partners.
Provide recommendations for scaling the Academy to meet the needs of employers, the state, and the institution.
Formalize training and curriculum partnerships with major tech vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Salesforce, Cisco, SAS Analytics, Workday, etc.).
Develop a student success and career placement services strategy for the Academy in consultation with Ivy Career Link.
Outline a plan for the scaling of the Academy, with an emphasis on disciplined growth with a goal of sustainability, including a revenue sharing structure for campuses.
Establish the Academy as a thought leader in the state’s tech ecosystem with a focus on positioning the Academy as part of the solution to minimize tech talent and retention gaps.

Remain current with industry trends, employment projections, and demand-driven data to make recommendations for future training, and certifications appropriate to embed in existing offerings or develop new offerings.
Study workforce, enrollment, retention, completion, success, and other student data and make recommendations to appropriate senior leadership based on the analysis.
Review sites/locations, ensuring they are adequate and appropriate for offerings to the economic sector.
Work with Human Resources on strategies to recruit and retain diverse and qualified Academy team members.
Work to seamlessly integrate the Academy into the Workforce & Careers Division.
Partner with key departments of the college (e.g. Academic Affairs, OIT, Business Affairs, etc.) to ensure the IT Academy is scalable and its framework is transferable and/or supplementary to other non-credit areas (e.g. Health Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, Supply Chain/Logistics, etc.).
This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direct reporting to Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer through June of 2023, while indirectly reporting to the Senior Vice President for Workforce & Careers. July 1, 2023, the position will transition to directly reporting to the Senior Vice President of Workforce & Careers and indirectly to the Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer.
SUPERVISION GIVEN:
Professional staff assigned to functional responsibilities related to the Academy.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a field related to information technology. Relevant industry certification and/or experience will be considered.
A minimum of three (3) years’ related experience in information technology, industry, training, educational administration or teaching at the post-secondary level or other related activity required.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills required.
Must have the ability to work as a team member and be self directed and able to work at own initiative.
Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.
Must be able and willing to travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree.
