JOB OPENING
POSITION TITLE: Home Care Aid Instructor/Career Coach
REPORTS TO: Senior Director Family Empowerment
STATUS: Full Time (40 hours per week)
SUMMARY:
Coordinates and ensures ReWA Home Care Aide WorkFirst programs are State certified. Students are well prepared after attending the 75-hour Home Care Aid Certification for employment and passing the HCA State exam. Compile and prepare monthly student reports. Assist in conducting orientations & CASAS/ELL Testing, intakes. Primary responsibility will be supporting the development of the Home Care Aid 75-hour certification class component of programs: curriculum, schedule classes, assist with intake and enrollment, train assistant instructors and volunteers and provide guidance, assure student files are properly maintained. Seeks Family Empowerment training needs and drives training initiatives identifying professional development opportunities for participants increasing knowledge and skills that will lead to increased integration and self-sufficiency. Refugee Women’s Alliance (ReWA) offers culturally and linguistically competent comprehensive career coaching for placement in a student’s next level of career opportunity in the medical field through employment services, vocational training, college classes (I-BEST/AA/BA). Services include employability/interest/skill assessment, education/employment search, basic computer literacy workshop, Life Skills workshop, English as second language, job placement and retention, coaching for career development and advancement, and intensive case management for the students wishing to further their career in the medical field.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructor Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Senior Director and instructors to ensure that HCA curriculum, teachers’ logs, student attendance reports, and progress reports meet contractual requirements and are submitted in a timely manner.
Assists in conducting outreach to fill WorkFirst Job Readiness and the 75-hour HCA Certification classes with TANF students.
Assist in developing and implementing strategies to remove barriers to participants attending classes
Coordinate with ESL Coordinator and assist with providing approved ESL level testing and ensure the students are at least ESL high level 2 and able to participate, successfully, in ReWA HCA Certification classes.
Assists in conducting orientation sessions for prospective students in the HCA Work First Programs.
Coordinates ordering and distribution of teaching supplies and testing materials.
Evaluate and ensures the WorkFirst Home Care Aid 75 Certification Curricula enhances participants’ growth toward program outcomes and empowers students to become employed and pass State Home Care Aid Certification exam.
Develop enhancements for the lesson plans as needed.
Track data spreadsheets and databases through data entry and comprehensive case notes. Must meet contract goals for job placement, training completion, and job retention.
Ensure and maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging environment for students.
Work with Senior Director to evaluate the program and identify areas of need.
Attend all required meetings and trainings.

Career Coach Responsibilities
Provides Career Coaching for participants who are seeking careers in HCA and the medical field pathways that may lead to job promotions, responsibilities and increases in salary.
Identify and develop strategic partnership with agencies or colleges that offer Internship Training Opportunities or education pathways for students in the medical field examples are CNA/MA or RN that will lead to better employment.
Provide support and career guidance services, including comprehensive assessments, information on occupations with clear career paths in high-growth industry sectors, information on eligible training providers and specialized training
Reduce barriers for refugees and immigrants in advancing positions and income that sustains and stabilizes their family
Coach participants on interview skills, as needed. Assist participants in writing targeted resumes.
Responsible for participant career progress and job placement/wages/retention.
Track data spreadsheets and databases through data entry and comprehensive case notes. Must meet contract goals for job placement, training completion, and job retention.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BA in Public Health, Nursing, or related field.
Strong English proficiency, written and oral
Willingness to become State Certified Home Care Aide Instructor
At least two years of demonstrated experience in teaching adult English Language learners some combination of literacy and phonetics skills, and creating lesson plans
Willingness to become certified in ESL assessment and competency testing.
Proactive decision making and excellent problem-solving skills
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software
Fundamental knowledge of and experience in curriculum development
Effective prioritizing, organizational and multi-tasking skills
Experience working with immigrants and refugees; ability to establish effective working relationships with multi-cultural staff, clients, community representatives and the general public
Highly positive with enthusiastic style; capable of motivating students
Ability to work as an effective team member in a multicultural organization
Must be self-starter and dependable with strong problem-solving skills and good judgment
Proficient in Microsoft programs; excel, word, power point, publisher, etc..
Must have reliable transportation.
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MA in Public Health, Nursing or related field.
State-Approved Home Care Aid Worker
Bi-lingual preferred
Experience and training in ESL assessment and competency testing.
