Assistant Director/Curriculum Director
to join their team on campus. The person assigned to this position serves as the Assistant Director/Curriculum Director for the Montana Digital Academy (MTDA), and is a key representative of MTDA. The individual occupying this role is responsible for conducting project planning, management and execution in the critical areas of technical infrastructure, curriculum development, teacher recruitment and training and performance review, and outreach and problem-solving with schools and students. The individual assigned to this position will create synergy between the K-12 system and the Montana University System with strong, effective coaching and mentoring skills.
The person assigned to this position will also possess advanced implementation knowledge and skills, blended with strong technological proficiency in order to propel the vision and execution of the Montana Digital Academy forward with precision and speed. The person in this role will also ensure content alignment with Montana education standards.
Essential duties and responsibilities assigned to this position are listed below:
Support and promote the MTDA partnership with **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (UM)
Configure, maintain, and administer critical technical platforms, including student information systems, learning management systems, content servers, and web hosting platforms
Identify and resolve issues and concerns with local school personnel, students, parents, and teachers
Utilize SQL database queries to aggregate reports for internal and external data reporting. Ability to use Google Sheets and Google Data Studio to create data simulations, data visualizations, and visual reports
Supervise and manage the development and implementation of MTDA grant projects (i.e. EdReady and 21st Century Teaching & Learning Initiative) work with the appropriate UM offices to meet all grant financial reporting requirements
Objectively evaluate employees and provide detailed feedback in a professional manner
Gather and analyze student and teacher performance data to recommend program changes and adaptations
Define requirements and implement customer service and support platforms, develop and implement customer service metrics
Evaluate, negotiate with, and recommend new vendors to evolve critical MTDA infrastructure, course content, services, and assets
Maintain relationships with policymakers, including members of the Legislative and Executive branches of the State of Montana and Tribal Governments
Foster and maintain relationships with external partners and bodies, including, including the Montana Public Education Center, Montana Association of School Business Officials, Montana Federation of Public Employees, Montana Quality Education Coalition, Montana Rural Education Association, Montana School Boards Association, and School Administrators of Montana, and Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education
Create and oversee MTDA memorandums of understanding for teacher services with local schools, student data privacy agreements, dual credit articulation agreements with colleges, etc.
Evaluate curricula, teaching methods, and programs to determine their effectiveness, efficiency, and utilization, and to ensure that the MTDA complies with federal, state, and local regulations
Lead the MTDA team in writing and executing marketing plans
Track and develop the teacher compensation reporting system to ensure prompt payments to local schools for MTDA teacher services

Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package

Salary for this position is $93,000 per year commensurate with qualifications
Minimum Required Knowledge & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
Montana secondary teaching or administrative certificate
3-5 years successful administrative and leadership experience in a statewide online asynchronous program
Experience managing technology assets, including LMS servers, email platforms, and Google Workspace for Education
Experience with the development and teaching of asynchronous online courses
Demonstrated ability to configure, maintain, and administer critical technical platforms, including student information systems, learning management systems, content servers, and web hosting platforms
Proven expertise with data management utilizing databases
Demonstrated ability to define requirements and implement customer service and support platforms, develop and implement customer service metrics
Proven experience and understanding of the Montana K-12 educational environment (including strong familiarity with the online learning needs of schools and students)
Experience in identification and resolution of issues and concerns with local school personnel, students, parents and teachers
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners and bodies
Maintain active membership in Virtual Learning Leadership Alliance committees and engage in partnership and leadership opportunities within the organization
Demonstrated ability to objectively evaluate employees and provide detailed feedback in a professional manner
Expertise in integrating technical systems to develop efficient workflows and data reporting
Ability to create and oversee MTDA memorandums of understanding for teacher services with local schools, student data privacy agreements, dual credit articulation agreements with colleges, etc.
Ability to track and develop the teacher compensation reporting system to ensure prompt payments to local schools for MTDA teacher services
Demonstrated experience in evaluating curricula, teaching methods, and programs to determine their effectiveness, efficiency, and utilization, and to ensure that the MTDA complies with federal, state, and local regulations
Proven ability to present at regional and national conferences, including the Northwest Council for Computer Education, International Society for Technology in Education, Digital Learning Annual Conference, Mountain Moot, US Moodle Moot, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree, other Advanced Degree, or Terminal Degree
Experience with HR/teacher evaluation
