Prairie View A&M University.POSITION SUMMARYSupervise the operations of the housekeeping function on a specific shift and/or a specific area of the hospital to insure a clean, safe and germ free environment. Displays a positive image of the hospital by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior towards patients, physicians, visitors, volunteers and other employees.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES• Supervises Environmental Services Staff • Maintains daily contact with co-workers and managers. May have contact with repair people, vendors, senior hospital executives, physicians/medical staff, and patients/families. Requires a normal, responsive relationship indicating sensitivity to other people. • Must maintain as confidential information gained in the process of doing one’s own work. • Must demonstrate the ability to cooperate with others. • Follows infection control practices and safety practices in all activities. • Activities include: managing shift changes, performing inspections, training employees, completing and issuing performance appraisals, scheduling, monitoring and controlling use of supplies and equipment, filling out necessary forms and paperwork, enforcing policy and procedure compliance, ensuring excellent customer relations.• Duties also include: performing duties of a environmental services tech (cleaning floors; damp dusting furniture and fixtures; making and cleaning patient beds; cleaning, emptying ash urns and waste receptacles; washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and lights; changing light bulbs; performing non-routine floor care duties (buffing, shampooing, etc.);inspecting, replacing curtains, cubicles; checking, stocking soap, paper supplies; hauling out trash, moving furniture. • Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times.• Adheres to organizational and department specific safety standards and guidelines.• Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members.• Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, residents, visitors, staff and the broader health care community.','!*!MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Education: High School Diploma/GEDMinimum Experience:2 years of housekeeping experienceMinimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Must have strong relationship building skills and the ability to make and use connections throughout the facility to complete projects and maintain strong partnerships with other departments.• Must have strong initiative and be able to gather and analyze information skillfully and be able to brainstorm alternative resources and directions.• Must be able to break down complex tasks into manageable parts in a systematic, detailed way and considers input from several sources. • Must be detail orientation in gathering relevant data while attending to essential details; checks work for accuracy and quality.• Must be able to problem-solve by identifying and resolving problems in a time manner, as well as develop alternative solutions when needed.• Must have great flexibility and the ability to continually look for ways to make appropriate adjustments and changes – rather than identifying why things cannot be accomplished – in order to meet to the changing needs of the Department and hospital.• Requires self-discipline to perform work specifically assigned. • Requires a display of personal attitude, courtesy and appearance for others to look favorably on the institution (much contact with public). • Required to understand either verbal or written communications and instruction. Must be able to interpret written warnings as posted on doorways and chemicals. • Requires use of judgment making decisions adherence to standards.• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.Language Ability:• Must have ability to read, analyze, and interpret common and industry-related documents. • Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients, families, staff and the general public. • Must have the ability to write reports and presentations that conform to prescribed style and format.
