The Department of Biology and Environmental Science at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. invites applications for a Lecturer position beginning August 2022.
The Department seeks to hire a highly skilled educator with expertise engaging freshman science majors in introductory biology coursework. We offer two large multi-section biology courses (Molecular Basis of Life and Organisms and Evolution) for freshman their first year at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., and the successful applicant will coordinate the instruction of the lecture and laboratory sections, in addition to teaching these courses.
These courses serve all 5 majors in the Department of Biology and Environmental Science along with students in the Biochemistry, Forensic Science, Medical Lab Science, and Health Science programs. Our department is large and varied with undergraduate degrees in Biology, Genetics & Biotechnology, Marine Biology, Marine Affairs, and Environmental Science and graduate M.S. programs in Cell and Molecular Biology, Environmental Science, and Marine Policy & Management.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have earned a Master’s degree in a relevant field, although a Ph.D., M.D., or D.P.M. is strongly preferred. In addition to running our introductory biology courses, there is an opportunity to teach and develop courses in topics related to the successful applicant’s area of expertise. A commitment to student-centered, active learning is required, along with demonstrated experience in the use of technology to enhance pedagogy.
