Based in the Faculty of Health, the School of Nursing and Midwifery programmes in the fields of adult, child and mental health nursing and in midwifery have been designed with our students’ career and the future needs of the workforce in mind. The School works in partnership with local NHS trusts to drive forward clinical research and support students in their learning to become the best nurses and midwives they can be. InterCity Place is the first-class new home for our healthcare teaching and research providing students with skills to meet the needs of 21st century careers. The School offers a unique interdisciplinary learning environment, where students from the largest breadth of healthcare disciplines in the South West can benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, maximising their potential, developing core skills, and preparing them to embark on exciting and rewarding careers. The School offers further support for student career and professional development in the areas of healthcare, surgical care practice, emergency care and general practice nursing. An interdisciplinary approach to research covers sustainability, the evolution of services, use of new genetic knowledge and technologies, the ageing population, use of internet and mobile technologies, changes in clinical education, contemporary nursing, and how knowledge is translated into practice and policy. As a Lecturer at University of Plymouth, you will be expected to contribute to, and as appropriate, lead the provision of outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, scholarship and knowledge transfer. You will specifically contribute to the academic development of children’s nursing relating to the care of children and families in all healthcare settings. You will join our enthusiastic and proactive children’s nursing team who have expertise in primary and secondary care teaching across all programmes where children and young people come into contact with health care. You will currently have the following experience to bring to this role: Registration as a children’s nurse on the Nursing and Midwifery Council register In depth knowledge and understanding of current children’s nursing practice Ideally contemporary experience in clinical skills teaching An awareness of current priorities Evidence of the potential to contribute scholarly activity Relevant recent clinical experience ideally as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner You would either possess or be willing to work towards: Relevant post registration experience as an Advanced Practitioner A Master’s degree qualification in a relevant subject A recognised teacher qualification or willingness to obtain one There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport.
