The
University of Montana Griz Card Center
invites applications for an
Assistant Director
to oversee the UM campus card program, door security and identification management system. The Assistant Director will provide leadership and oversight to personnel and day-to-day operations in the Griz Card Center. This position is responsible for improving the student experience by developing new, innovative ways to leverage technology related to the campus card program to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
The Assistant Director will provide direct supervision to the Griz Card Centers staff (including hiring, training, performance management, and management of corrective/disciplinary actions). This position will also oversee and set priorities to maintain an effective departmental workflow and prioritize and assign workloads to supervised staff members. The Assistant Director reports directly to the Associate Director of Operations.
The Assistant Director will also serve as the system administrator for the Transact, Sequoia, and Orbital Shift software systems. This position is responsible for:
Negotiating and writing agreements for service levels and fees for departments using the campus card system.
Developing and maintaining the network of authorized door contacts.
Working interdepartmentally to establish and support processes and policies to enhance campus wide security, leveraging the Griz Card system.
Serving in a consulting role for other campuses on the Transact system regarding point-of-sale implementation, door security policies and procedures, and campus card identification best practices.
Planning, scheduling, communicating, and managing system and software upgrades.
Testing, coordinating and implementing new software systems and hardware.
Creating and setting up testing environments for various departments.
Initiating data feeds for various functions.
Determining and resolving compatibility issues.
Completing manual system processes.
Coordinating the ordering, installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic and card reading devices, associated peripheral and the at-large Missoula community to manage campus card program growth and service enhancements.
Adapting to evolving needs of students and other constituents to support institutional and departmental priorities, vision, mission, and goals.
This position will also serve as the primary on-call person for all of campus in regards to door security and alarms attached to the Griz Card System. In addition, this position will be responsible for:
Overseeing daily and monthly reconciling procedures.
Managing budget development and analysis.
Managing summer conference card needs.
Overseeing the Griz Card Center website, marketing, and communication materials.
Researching and responding accordingly to current trends in the campus card industry.
Developing a quality assessment cycle including planning, development, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of results.

This position requires the employee to develop a working knowledge of:
Comprehensive knowledge of the Griz Card Systems.
Ability to maintain an understanding of all functions and features within the Griz Card System software, as well as data integrations with the system.
Knowledge and understanding of State of Montana Unclaimed Property laws, and banking Regulation E requirements.
Comprehensive knowledge on Banner, Transact, Cloud POS, Orbital Shift, Instant ID, Grizmart, UMDW, Cascade CMS, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite and custom homegrown applications.
Knowledge and understanding of custom SQL reporting and an extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel including advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and pivot tables.
Knowledge and basic understanding of different door lock styles and configurations, request to exit devices, and ADA requirements.
Knowledge and understanding of credit card processing, regulations, EMV, and PCI-DSS compliance.
Ability to participate in continuing education, due to the rapidly changing card industry.
Remain informed about policies, regulations, and state and federal laws that effect ID card management.
Serve on departmental and campus-wide committees.
Knowledge and basic understanding of UM Housing processes, policies, and housing trends as it applies to technology and campus card system integrations.
Position Details:
This position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package

Salary for this position ranges from $52,000 to $58,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.

Thorough understanding of FERPA.
Ability to work off-hours when needed as scheduled or in emergency situations.
Ability to take after hours troubleshooting calls.
Ability to travel to different campuses for site visits.
Minimum Required Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Information Systems and three (3) years relevant experience in campus card operations and/or technologies or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in higher education card services or a related area.
Thorough understanding of campus policies and procedures related to human resources, IT, purchasing, and accounts payable/receivable.
Experience managing cash registers, point-of-sale systems, and/or card swipe hardware.
Ability to gain a working knowledge of: client/server network environment, web technology, and microcomputer hardware maintenance.
Demonstrated experience in project management and application of various project management strategies and software.
Demonstrated commitment to innovation and use of technology to improve campus community experience.
