AHEC Scholars & Health Science Career Awareness Program Manager
. This position requires a high degree of initiative, along with strong and creative problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work as part of a team. This position will design, execute and periodically optimize health science career awareness activities for high school students in the western Montana region with the goal of exposing these students to healthcare careers. Additionally, this position will assist in the statewide development and implementation of the AHEC Scholars program by coordinating efforts in western Montana region. The AHEC Scholars & Health Science Career Awareness Program Manager will also need to work extremely well with health professions faculty, healthcare professionals, and hospital administration to strengthen internal and external community engagement and to implement these training activities effectively.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of initiative and leadership in engaging students from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds and encouraging these students to pursue healthcare careers. We are looking for an outgoing, passionate person who understands the importance of high school student recruitment and is able to create opportunities for prospective students to participate in career awareness events, tour the campus, learn about healthcare programs, and meet faculty and program staff. It is important that this candidate be an excellent communicator and facilitate communication between faculty, high school counselors and teachers, students and providers/employers regarding the AHEC health science training opportunities and the AHEC Scholars program. The position will also intermittently require travel within the region for networking with stakeholders.

Position Details:
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package
including insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
Salary for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
Experience with managing projects
Ability to write and maintain a program budget
Experience with routine office tasks including: preparing mailings, filing, and processing routine forms and paperwork.
Attention to detail; ability to organize, compile and complete mailings, packets, and other materials for meeting participants
Ability to learn and conduct event planning and catering including managing attendee registrations, hotel accommodations and banquet ordering (EventBrite, Doodle Polls)
Ability to schedule meetings and logistics (Transportation, A/V, etc) for faculty and students as well as rural healthcare partners
Ability to organize and manage meetings, both in person and via telecommunications
Flexibility to work on an irregular schedule depending on needs of programs
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
Knowledge of K-12 and post-secondary health science education and health professions programs.
Knowledge and experience in programmatic development and recruitment
Generates ideas for implementation and collaborative work to ensure the success of programming
Knowledge of current developments in health and healthcare workforce, specific to Montana
Demonstrated ability to manage time and hold project deadlines
Experience addressing programmatic flaws and barriers and developing solutions to move forward
Demonstrates ability to deal with and prioritize multiple ongoing projects and tasks, both immediate and ongoing as well as handling issues calmly and courteously
Experience in public speaking and giving professional presentations
Ability to reach broader audiences and develop messaging
Effective writing skills and ability to develop branding
Ability to self-start, conduct research, and take initiative with little direction or prompting
High degree of communication skills
Experience with managing committees and boards
A valid driver’s license in good standing
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in social/behavioral science, education, public administration, or a health-related discipline
2 years or more in program coordination and implementation
Demonstrated ability to work with teachers, students, faculty and staff in educational settings and a passion for education
Demonstrated understandings of interdisciplinary work and collaboration
Knowledge of on-campus research and institute offerings and program
