DEFINITION:
Assists the Supervisor with the planning, development, support and administration of specially focused LGBTQIA support project. Assists Supervisor with ongoing assessment of the project to ensure project is meeting the goals and objectives set forth by the college.

Non-academic, non-classified Professional Experts are not part of classified service. Non-academic, non-classified short-term employees are at-will employees and have no entitlement rights to any position in the District. Professional Expert employment shall not result in the displacement of Classified personnel.

*Retired CalPERS Annuitants: may not exceed 960 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30)*

POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
This is a temporary, specially funded Professional Expert position to provide support for the Orange Coast College Student Equity Department focused on support of LGBTQIA students. The Professional Expert will serve as a subject matter expert specifically related to specialized programming and resources focused on supporting LGBTQIA students.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides specialized subject matter expert support to the Student Equity Promise Center including campus and community resources supporting LGBTQIA students. Assists with developing, identifying, expanding and coordinating various support resources and programming specifically designed to support students in the LGBTQIA community. Work with campus services to build an inclusive and welcoming school community through development and implementation of programming to support LGBTQ students, including students from all social identities on issues of sexual orientation, gender expression, gender diversity. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: The position requires specialized professional knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices used in breaking barriers to highly impacted students' education Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with a degree in counseling, human services, or related field with training in LGBTQ on matters related to history, culture, and concerns In-depth knowledge of the needs of vulnerable LGBTQ communities, strategies to meet their needs, and ability work with a broad range of constituents, program participants, and stakeholders representing the full diversity of the LGBTQ and allied communities Demonstrated experience developing/coordinating cultural competency standards, training, and best practices Requires well developed language and human relations skills to explain technical concepts to others and conduct in-service training. Requires experience in creating communication tools including web sites and informational flyers regarding relevant campus programming and resources.
Conditions of Employment
