JOB SUMMARY
The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (UConn) School of Engineering in partnership with the UConn Office of the Vice President for Research invites applications and/or nominations for the position of Research Compliance and Security Specialist. The Specialist is responsible for compliance and security of identified initiatives and programs in the School of Engineering. Other key central duties include industry and academic outreach to promote effective communication and collaboration related to compliance and security with industry and academic partners, as well as project management and coordination. The position reports to the Executive Director of IPB.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Research Compliance and Security Specialist is responsible for overseeing secure and productive compliance of identified projects with Federal Regulations and maintaining effective communication with industry and academic partners and managing compliance during these relationships. Identified projects are expected to involve compliance with specific export control and information security requirements as well as other U.S. defense agency and defense contractor requirements. The Specialist will assist and support School of Engineering projects and initiatives as assigned.

The Research Compliance and Security Specialist should exhibit ability and expertise in:

Federal Compliance Ensure secure and productive compliance with federal regulations, especially those regarding ITAR/IMEX, export control, and information security. Develop and implement policies, provide training, and establish internal and external controls. Evaluate and mitigate non-compliance. Function as the export control officer for identified projects.

Industry and Academic Outreach Communicate effectively with industry partners, university colleagues, and academic institution peers to ensure compliance and security for various School of Engineering initiatives.

Program Development and Administration Effectively communicate and collaborate with faculty, students, staff, and external partners to retrieve appropriate information to help build and maintain compliance and security initiatives. Serve as a point of contact and effective communicator with external partners.

Representation Effectively represent the Institute with partners and/or stakeholders that are collaborating with the School of Engineering.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. degree in engineering or a related physical science discipline
At least 5 years of related experience, two years of which must be as an advanced/senior team member or project lead
Strong experience with federal compliance and security
Direct working knowledge of the ITAR, EAR, and OFAC regulations
Project management experience
Demonstrated organizational abilities
Demonstrated strong written and oral communication
Ability to travel to meet with academic, industry, and government partners
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master of Business Administration and/or J.D.
Experience working with federal defense agencies
Experience conducting or administering university-based research projects
Knowledge of NISPOM and DFARs
Experience managing CUI data in accordance with the DFARs 7012 and NIST 800-171
Ability to hold a security clearance
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time 12-month, annually renewable appointment. Salary range for this position is $65,350-$84,955 and will be commensurate with experience.
