Job Description:
BASIC PURPOSE: Assists with the overall supervision and operation of late-night programming, Campus Activities Board and Student Government Association budget spending. The Assistant Director of Student Activities seeks to foster a campus community that is conducive to all manner of student development including academic, social, spiritual, cultural, and physical dimensions. The Assistant Director of Student Activities assists in developing a Student Activates operation which is reflective of the University Mission as a Roman Catholic, Liberal Arts institution. The Catholic mission manifests itself in the work of all staff within the division of student affairs, where we are committed to the education of the whole person, in relationship to God, self and others. Our everyday work should reflect the values of Catholic teaching, including respect for human dignity. The co-curricular experiences of our young men and women should open possibilities they have for living lives of service in the wider world beyond campus, as concerned and caring Christians.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Campus Activities Board
* Serve as advisor to the Campus Activities Board, (includes Chairpersons, Executive Board and general student membership).
* Coordinates the search for the Campus Activities Board Executive Committee.
* Coordinates fall, winter and spring retreats/training for the Campus Activities Board.
* Manage the Campus Activities Board budget of approximately $225K.
* Attends weekly Campus Activities Board executive staff and general member Meetings
* Attends individual committee meetings as necessary.
* Coordinates annual trips with delegation to NACA regional and national Conferences.
* Plan and implement training for summer and winter.
* Create schedule of events for all CAB programming as well as weekend events
* Meet with chairperson and assistant chairperson one on one once a week
* Meet monthly with each executive
* Coordinate logistics of reserving spaces and advertising for each event
* Coordinate online ticketing system
* Submit all check requests for events
* Review and sign all contracts for events in consultation with the Director of Student Activities and Leadership Development.
* Work with the Director of Student Activities, general counsel, and outside agents on contracts for major campus events
* Daily tasks of drop ins and questions from executives and chair people
* Works closely with Assumption University community in coordinating Family Weekend.
- Coordinates all activities and events ensuring an enjoyable and positive experience for families and Assumption students
- Attends regularly scheduled planning meetings
- Monitors all expenditures and advertising.
Student Government Association:
* Attend a weekly meeting with SGA Vice President for Finance
* Oversight of the Finance Committee in collaboration with the SGA VP of Finance totaling over 500k
* Submit all check requests for clubs and organizations on weekly basis,
* Process all SGA invoices, in collaboration with SGA VP for Finance.
* Offer workshops to all student clubs and organizations on how to access funding, college policies, event planning, programming, advertising, and funding throughout the academic year.
* Attend weekly SGA meetings when requested.
* Supervise the Class officers for the first year and sophomore classes.
o Weekly meetings with class officers
o Support and coordinate fundraisers for the classes
Last Night and Weekend Programming
* Recruit, advise and support student groups to host campus events, including late night events.
* Coordinate with clubs and organizations to select appropriate dates for programs
* Create schedule of events for all late night and weekend programming
* Review event requests; provide funding advisement, room reservations, advertising support etc.
* Co-manage the SGA Late Night Programming Budget with the SGA VP of Finance
* Distribute a calendar each semester to advisors or other members of the community.
* Attend Late night events with student groups 3 out of the 4 weekends per month.
Orientation and Summer Programming
* Coordinate Orientation Registration with admissions as well as academic placement with the Dean of Undergraduate Studies.
* Oversee logistics behind the June, July, and August Orientation programs.
* Serve as on campus administration for June's overnight program
* Assist the Director of Student Activities with Orientation schedules and training.
* Oversee any summer programs, virtually or in-person, that occur for both incoming students as well as upperclassmen.
Other Responsibilities:
* Recruit, Hire and Train OSA Student Sound Techs to assist with weekend programming and Audio/Visual needs;
* Serve as the Student Affairs representative on the University Marketing committee;
* Supports and assists the programming efforts of other offices including Residential Life, Campus Ministry, Wellness Center, the Athletic Department and the Cross-Cultural Center;
* Participates in weekly staff meetings and monthly Advisor meetings;
* Attends professional staff training retreats and in-service training session to enhance professional skills;
* The Assistant Director pursues professional development activities in order to stay abreast of developments and innovations in the field of Student Activities and maintains membership in any of the following: NACA, NASPA, ACPA;
* Serve as a member of the student affairs administrative team during major weekends and campus events;
* Assists with University special events such as, but not limited to, the Matriculation ceremony, Family Weekend, Homecoming, Senior Week, Commencement, and the Crown and Shield Award Luncheon;
* Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
* Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the College as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. An appreciation of the Catholic and Assumptionist mission of the College;
* Bachelor's Degree required and a minimum of two years of student activities experience;
* Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
* Willing to work evenings and weekends;
* Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, and word processing software;
* Must be vaccinated and boostered for COVID-19.

* Regularly serves on a variety of campus committees, and other ad-hoc committees as assigned. Maintains active membership in a variety of professional organizations to stay abreast developments and innovations in the field of Student Activities.
* Interacts regularly with a variety of student committees and groups, students, staff, administrators, parents, agents, vendors, and performers.
* Work includes evening and weekends
* Compensation: In addition to annual salary, an on campus furnished apartment is provided
