The Digital Experience Group (DXG) is a newly formed innovative core research facility that aims to provide the university research community with access to high-quality app development, UI/UX design, and other technology innovation services. The successful candidate will be motivated to refine, promote, and expand a high-quality technology innovation service at the cutting edge of current software development/design paradigms. In addition to general administrative duties, it is expected that the director will provide technical support on projects and will participate in recruiting, teaching, and supervising a team of talented student software application developers and designers both in DXG as well as Squared Labs (****in support of the University's research mission.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in a relevant discipline (computer science, design, etc.).
At least 4 years of experience as a software developer with a portfolio of representative work.
The capability to be a self-directed learner.
Evidence of independent work, as well as collaboratively as a member of a team.
Demonstrated experience managing projects for timely delivery/installation.
Experience with building applications using one or more of the following technologies: Ruby, NodeJS, React, Vue, Laravel.
Experience with agile product management & the principles of Lean UX as applied to the delivery of quality digital products.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience designing, building, and maintaining automated software delivery pipelines using tools such as Gitlab CI, and Circle CI.
Experience designing, building, and maintaining automated server infrastructure using virtualization and containerization technologies such as VirtualBox, Vagrant, and Docker.
Supervisory skills and demonstrated ability to provide oversight of and leadership to a team of developers/designers.
Experience working within a startup-like environment.
Experience working in an academic or higher education institution.
Experience teaching current software development and UI/UX practices.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time, 12-month, annually renewable position. Full-time positions include an excellent benefits package including medical and retirement, as well as employee and tuition waivers at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience. Positions are anticipated to be based on the main UConn Storrs Campus.
