Job Overview
As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.
The College of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine, is seeking to fill a Physician Assistant position. A Physician Assistant will provide advanced critical care to the critically ill or injured patients in the advanced transport medicine environment (rotor wing and mobile intensive care ambulances).
Essential Functions
Performs a physical exam based upon age and patient history as per the Standard Care Arrangement with a collaborating physician.
Serves as a Medical Control Officer for patient transport missions. Orders, interprets and evaluates laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies to assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
Develops a treatment plan in collaboration with the physician and members of the multidisciplinary care team.
May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by state and University of Cincinnati Medical Center prescriptive authority.
Actively participate in research relative to area of specialty.
Publish evidence based research in peer review publications.
Develop professional abstracts to be presented on the local, regional and national levels.
Actively develop and participate in providing evidence based education presentations and other learning activities for diverse disciplines.
Participate in Medical Team Rounds.
Actively involved with Quality Management, data collection and performance improvement initiatives.
Other activities and/or duties assigned to achieve the overall mission of the position within the Department.
Minimum Requirements
Professional Degree.
Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessor agencies.
Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Must be licensed/license eligible in the State of Ohio with prescriptive authority.
