Job Summary
This position will work with the present Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research (CCAR) Research Manager and CCAR Director, to assist center with financial and payroll operations, proposal of budgetary support, resource management and planning, project expenses and closure. This position will work with other offices and departments on campus to ensure accurate procedures are followed. This position is an integral part of the CCAR, which is comprised of 18 faculty, 15 research scholars, 80-90 graduate students, and 20-25 undergraduate students.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Budgetary Oversight and Financial Compliance
Assists in budgetary oversight and financial compliance matters within standard university policies and checks and balances under the supervision of the CCAR Research Manager.
Assists with center financial accounting for the center within standard university policies and checks and balances.
Assists with center financial transactions and uses Federal, State, University and Department regulations to ensure that each expense meets fiscal compliance.
Monitors research, general, auxiliary, gift and plant statements to ensure proper use of funds and to prevent deficits.
Processes transfers to correct compliance issues or to alleviate deficits.
Handles administration of various sub-contracts from initial set-up to closeout.
Builds monthly reports required by sub-contracts.
Assists in monthly reports for each of the PIs working in the center to forecast future years of expenditures and payroll. This requires budget forecasting knowledge and communication between PI, OCG and funding agencies.
Payroll Oversight and Compliance
Assists CCAR Research Manager with payroll oversight and compliance within standard university policies and checks and balances for CCAR faculty, CCAR Research Faculty and CCAR students.
Acts as a liaison to the HR Service Center for all payroll related matters.
Assists in working with Human Resources, Payroll and Benefits Services and the Graduate School to coordinate all non-faculty personnel appointments and human resource needs and to implement any center procedures for hiring, terminating, funding and personal data input. Uses knowledge of funding rules to determine which accounts are used to fund each position within center.
Serves as the CCAR point of contact/works with the Registrar for graduate student tuition authorization in support of the CCAR Research Manager.
Helps CCAR Research Manager in advising faculty and staff of changes in accounting, payroll, and reimbursement rules.
Stays current on university financial policies and software tools relevant to finance.
Administrative Management and Planning
Assists in providing overall staff support for CCAR's director, focusing on day-to-day strategic direction of faculty, research scholars, graduate students, and undergraduate students.
Determines, interprets, and applies CU-Boulder rules and procedures to CCAR activities.
Works with the Office of International Education for adherence to foreign national policies pertaining to foreign employees and visitors.
Assists in the coordination and organization of retreats, travel arrangements and committee meetings for CCAR faculty, staff and students. Requires knowledge of budgetary and fiscal policy constraints.
Assists in coordinating arrangements for all meetings required for visiting groups, (i.e. catering, meeting rooms, hotel arrangements, air, etc.) examples include: MURI meetings (50 attendees), quarterly CEDAR CSSC conference (300 attendees), and the George H. Born Symposium (100 attendees).
Provides accounting support for bi-annual Capstone Conference (200 attendees) and the annual CEDAR conference (300 attendees).
Coordinates space and office requests for the Center. Assigns space to Research Associates and Graduate Research Assistants.
Assists CCAR IT professional in updating CCAR webpage, Facebook page and other social media accounts.

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $63,000.

What We Require
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field or a minimum of two years of experience providing professional-level financial management and administrative support.
Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

What We Would Like You To Have
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field.
General knowledge of CU financial and payroll systems.
General knowledge of web page design and web page updates.
Experience in a higher education environment, preferably in an engineering firm or among engineers in other settings.
Sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural, political, and geographical differences, with ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students from around the world.
