JOB OVERVIEW
Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences is seeking an outstanding individual to fill an assistant or associate professor-rank (tenure-track) faculty position in the Division of Epidemiology.

The Department of Environmental Health at the UC College of Medicine conducts world-renowned research in environmental and public health, occupational safety and health, and molecular genetics. It has ~40 full-time faculty and ~200 graduate students in 6 divisions (Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, Environmental Genetics and Molecular Toxicology, Environmental and Industrial Hygiene, Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Public Health Sciences). The Department currently has a NIEHS-funded P30 Center for Environmental Genetics, NIEHS-funded T32 training program in Molecular Epidemiology of Children's Environmental Health, NIOSH-funded T42 Education Research Center, and a research portfolio for environmental and occupational health that is among the top in the nation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Appointees will have the opportunity for membership with the NIH funded Center for Environmental Genetics (P30ES06096), Center for Clinical and Translational Science and Training (CTSA), Cincinnati Cancer Center, **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Cancer Institute, accredited MPH program, and numerous other research centers. These Centers offer supportive environments to conduct state-of-the-art epidemiologic, genetic, and clinical research. Strong basic research programs in exposure assessment, molecular biology and toxicology, genetics, bioinformatics and data science, pathology, immunology, and endocrinology are available for collaborative investigations.

 

Local resources include the nationally recognized Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (rated 2nd best overall Children's Hospital by U.S. News & World Report), Veterans Affairs Medical Center, United States Environmental Protection Agency's Andrew W. Breidenbach Environmental Research Center, and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. College of Medicine partners with affiliated hospitals and other health care facilities with a large regional market share in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
The candidate is expected to participate in graduate (PhD, MS, MPH program) and post-doctoral training and teaching, establish and maintain a record of scholarship through research and extramural funding, and provide service to the Department, College, and University. 
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
*Doctoral degree in epidemiology, public health, or environmental health, MD or equivalent from an accredited college or university. *Evidence of rigorous training in epidemiology. *Interest in environmental health.  *Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research evidenced by a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. *Track record or a demonstrated potential for sustained research funding.  *Demonstrated interest in advising and mentoring graduate (PhD, MS, MPH) students and postdoctoral fellows. *Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with the subject matter. *Outstanding written and oral skills to present research in written and oral format. *Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
 
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED
Ideal qualifications include a potential or demonstrated ability to successfully obtain externally funded to conduct original research related to epidemiology, environmental health and/or preventive medicine in human populations. Individuals with a strong research background in epidemiology in the areas of environmental or occupational health, epidemiologic methods, cardiometabolic disorders, women's health, neurodevelopment, children's health, infectious diseases, addiction, community health, neurodegenerative disorders and aging, cancer, and/or the application of omics (i.e., genomics, proteomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, etc.) in complex diseases are encouraged to apply.
